PATH in Ethiopia is currently implementing various high impact projects with the aim of saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable and underserved women and children in the country. Currently, PATH is looking for Zonal level TA for Somali region to provide technical assistance for the HPV multiage cohort vaccination campaign and switch to single dose vaccination rollout in the region.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for zonal health department and Woreda health offices in the overall planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring, communication, and demand creation activities for HPV MAC campaign and switch to single dose vaccination activities and routine immunization services.
  • Support in evidence-based planning of communication and community engagement activities.
  • Assist in establishment/revitalization of Zonal and Woreda level Social Mobilization and SBCC committees/ technical working groups, M&E technical working group and EPI task force.
  • Provide technical support for Woredas to develop bottom-up micro plan.
  • Support Zone and Woredas to improve documentation, reporting, analysis and use of data for evidence-based decision making.
  • Support the scale up of DHIS2 to all Woredas.
  • Provide support to organize advocacy activities to engage influential leaders, decision makers, and media professionals at Zonal and Woreda levels.
  • Support and facilitate performance review meetings at Zonal and Woreda level.
  • Support in the development, implementation and monitoring of an IEC materials’ dissemination plan.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring and evaluation missions as per Zonal guidance to oversee quality implementation of Zonal and Woreda vaccination, communication and community engagement plan.
  • Contribute to documenting experiences, success stories, activity reports, presentations, and briefs.
  • And any other activity as requested by the supervisor.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, nursing and/or other relevant field.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ for bachelor’s and 3 (three) years for master’s experience in public health programming, implementation, with at least two-three (2-3) years’ experience in the area of immunization and maternal/child health programs including engagement in the recent COVID-19 vaccine delivery planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring.
  • Experience in providing TA for government staff.
  • Practical experience in providing on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government and partners organizations and local communities.
  • Proven experience in data analysis
  • Skilled in successfully working with geographically dispersed teams and working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, including cross-cultural teams.
  • Experience in using Microsoft offices (power point, outlook, excel and word) and statistical packages like Epi info, SPSS, STATA and other apps like ODK.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and knowing Afaan Oromo is mandatory.
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to Woredas and health facilities, estimated to be about 40%.
