CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more) because he/she works at the community level. The role holder should be well acquainted with and act towards ensuring the organization’s Child Safeguarding Policy inclusive of awareness creation for prevention, reporting, and responding.

Project Overview:
The overall goal of Leadership and Economic Empowerment Project (LEEP) is to create opportunities for young women in business in semi-urban and urban areas to empower themselves to engage meaningfully in their development, improve their technical and transferable skills and have equal access to, and use of capital, resources and services to achieve economic self-sufficiency and well-being. The young women will receive the resources needed to scale their businesses, support their families and become agents of change, role models and leaders in their communities.
LEEP project will be implemented from February 1, 2023 to January 31, 2026 to address 8900 young women in business in Sidama region, SNNPR and AddisAbaba. The project has the below three objectives:
Objective I: Young women access and use assets to develop and grow their businesses
Objective 2: Young women develop capabilities, skills knowledge and attitudes to manage and grow their businesses
Objective 3: Young women live in a healthy, violence-free and supportive environment in their households, communities and society and are part of a collaborative effort to advocate for equal access to resources and services
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Initiate the targeting of project participant and facilitate the selection process of project participants
- Provide Business development skill, entrepreneurship and leadership trainings and other related Soft Skills training for at least 200 young women in business in a yearly basis
- Organize trainings and events together with supervision of Youth livelihood Officer(YLO) and regional coordinator
- Facilitate the formation of YESGs groups and provide coaching support for the organized groups and individual businesses
- Represent the project and delivery of community awareness, YES center promotion and women empowerment activities, under the respective Kebele with the support from YLO and Regional coordinator
- Facilitate and coordinate the components of youth development activities, like facilitate trainings, coach and mentor the target youth
- Follow up the progress of each program activity and provide the appropriate support for targeted youth.
- Facilitate loan linkage with MFI through supporting in fulfilling the requirements such as business plan preparation in close supervision with YLO and regional coordinator
- Collection, documentation and dissemination of lessons learned, case stories and good practices of the project and its partners
- Coach and record participant personal development plan (PDP) progress
- Be part of the planning team of the LEEP project staff at Woreda level.
- Develop monthly activity plans and reports in close consultation with YLO and regional project coordinator
- Carry out other duties as requested by the Regional Project coordinator
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential:
- Diploma (Degree Preferred) in field (s) such as: Sociology, community development, rural development, Business management, developmental psychology, economics, commerce and related courses
- Year of service (2 years)
- Age: Below 35
- Speaks the local language
- Excellent understanding of the culture and ways of living of target communities.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and excellent awareness about communities, government structure etc.
- Good report writing skill; able to collect document and share records and information.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural Kebeles where the program is implemented, within approved security frameworks.
- Basic computer skills and mobile literacy are desirable.
- Experiences of working in NGOs; and communities at grass root level are advantageous
- Experiences in volunteering, community service and passion for development work are advantageous.
Desirable
- Experience of working with community mobilization, youth centres, Women empowerment, training facilitation, Coaching and Mentoring youth.
- Work experience in productive areas and knowledge of local culture is advantageous
- Ability to deliver training and coaching support in complex and demanding workload.
- Experience in NGO setup.
- Experience working in the region and understanding of local context
