Job Description

Job summary

designs and implements programs that ensure the active participation and empowerment of diverse youth, especially those from marginalized or underserved communities. Build partnerships, facilitate access to opportunities like business or employment, advocate for rural young women’s voices, and develop their skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead youth mobilization activities in collaboration with community leaders, local authorities, and partners.
  • Design and implement transparent criteria for young women targeting and selection.
  • Ensure inclusion of young women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in project activities.
  • Provide basic life-skills and soft-skills training to strengthen young women’s readiness for participation.
  • Support rural young Women groups and committees to enhance leadership, participation, and decision-making capacity.
  • Foster a culture of inclusiveness, accountability, and active participation among youth.
  • Collaborate with technical officers (e.g., livelihood, agribusiness, education, skill development) to ensure targeted youth access to project services.
  • Contribute to timely reporting to donors, government offices, and program management.
  • Build strong relationships with woreda/ zonal youth, women, and social affairs offices.
  • Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or the management of the organization

About You

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • BA/MA in Sociology, Economics, Social Work, Project management, Development Studies, or related fields, and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. in youth mobilization, targeting, and orientation within development or humanitarian programs.

Additional Skills

  • Understanding of youth development, inclusion, and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Ability to design and apply fair targeting mechanisms.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational, monitoring, and reporting abilities.
  • Fluency in English and local languages.
  • Commitment to organizational values of integrity, transparency, and inclusion.
