Background

The Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) in partnership with Amref Health Africa implementing a USAID funded Integrated Youth Activity (Kefeta) in Adama and Bishoftu cities. Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youth who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity. Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach.

About YNSD (Youth Network for Sustainable Development)

A non-governmental, non-profit making indigenous organization that was founded in 2003 by four school clubs and fifteen youth associations.

Currently, YNSD is an umbrella network of more than 160 youth organizations/associations operating at the national level.

Re-registered as Consortium of Ethiopian Resident Charities under the FDRE Charities and Societies Agency in February 2010 with license number 1442. The vision of YNSD (youth network for sustainable development is to see Ethiopian youth holistically empowered and meaningfully engaged in the country’s all rounded and sustainable development.

Youth economic empowerment assistant is responsible for working within the all program staffs to successfully implement the organization and the projects objective in the area of project.

Youth economic empowerment assistant is responsible working with youth economic empowerment officer closely.

She/he has great responsibility for facilitating economic empowerment activities and empowering youth in economic at ground level.

Duties responsibility 

  • Facilitate and Coordinating with each program and operations team on expected deliverables and support activities implementation;
  • Facilitate the establishment of Youth SACCO in project implementation cities
  • Create awareness on the importance and role of youth SACCOs
  • Oversee the implementation of entrepreneurship-related activities as per the set work plan and methodologies
  • Work closely with youth, individual/group, to analyze the selected livelihood options to city levels
  • Establish appropriate YEF (youth empowerment fund) access and linkages with youth centers, youth groups, coalition
  • Ensure coordination with other NGOs and local authorities in targeted areas
  • Prepare regular monthly, quarterly, and other reports as per YNSD internal requirements
  • Work in collaboration with different staff who work under IYA
  • Work closely with youth centers and youth coalitions which exist at the city level
  • Follow and assist different community mobilization/ sensitization activities
  • Plan and coordinate meetings, and document action items/ for next steps;
  • Liaise with the procurement department to facilitate procurement of program-related items;
  • Facilitate day-to-day operations of the project at city level and communicating with Cluster manager and project officer;
  • Working closely with the relevant stakeholders in the implementation of Kefeta Project;
  • Supporting the IYA project management in planning and work plan development;
  • Supporting Youth Coalition and the youth hub to deliver quality services;
  • Provide assistance in analyzing , monitoring, and reporting on the implementation of the youth project /activities, monitor expenditures, and disbursement to insure delivery is in line with approved budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager and coordinator.

REPORTS TO:  Youth economic empowerment officer and YNSD Cluster Manager

Job Requirements

Qualification and experience

  • BA degree in economics, accounting, business management and other related with minimum 2 years work experience youth.
  • Have knowledge, skill and ability
  • Strong commitment to work with youth and government stakeholders, partners
  • Experience in facilitating workshops/trainings
  • Fluent in English language, written and spoken
  • Skill of written and speaking Afan oromo, Amharic advantageous
