Job Description

Floresta Ethiopia is non- governmental organization based in San Diego CA, USA, whose mission is to reverse poverty and deforestation by transforming the lives of rural poor. Floresta Ethiopia would like to invite competent candidates who fulfill the requirements indicated below.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead on women’s inclusion, and empowerment strategy development and the implementation of activities that align and contribute to increase participation of women in program activities.
  • Provide clear technical support, supervision, training and monitoring to the team on issues of women inclusion/ equity and empowerment
  • Ensure that staff and program volunteers adhere to best practice to foster women’s and inclusion/equity and empowerment
  • Strengthening community engagement and outreach including on issues of women’s inclusion/ equity and empowerment in program activities.
  • Lead and support integration, joint working and collaboration in all elements of the program. Working closely with section heads and program manager to foster inclusion of women in all aspects of the program.
  • Women’s empowerment and gender equality programs which range from girls education to women’s leadership, trafficking in persons, women economic and political empowerment, gender mainstreaming.
  • Serve as technical advisor to village saving and loan association groups and other program activities in gender equality, women’s empowerment, and gender analysis.
  • Participating in divisional and cross-divisional program planning and proposal development, including mainstreaming gender equality into all program activity.
  • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationship with key stakeholders including, donor’s government sectors, UN agencies, international and local NGOs, and other relevant actors.
  • Perform any other activities as deemed necessary

Educational background and Minimum Requirement:

  • Minimum of 10/8 years’ experience in BA/BSc/MA/MSc respectively in Gender studies, social works, Sociology, Community Development, Project planning and management, Rural development, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics and Agriculture
  • Willing to travel to project sites

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in Gender sector
  • Experience in NGOs sector is preferable.
