TSFP Store Keeper

THEME/PROGRAMME: Famine Prevention Response in Nutrition and WASH 

LOCATION: Lega Hidha woreda, Bale Field Office

POST TYPE: National

GRADE: 5A

CONTRACT LENGTH:3(three) months with opportunity of extension.

Child Safeguarding: 

Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people

The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

The incumbent of this position represents SC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. The selected employee will be responsible for the supervision of commodity movement and distribution, maintaining records and documents related to the operation of the program in Integrated life-saving WASH and Nutrition support project Woreda, preparation of various periodic reports, facilitation of on-job training, ensuring the proper maintenance and management of warehouses, and other commodity-related activities.
SCOPE OF ROLE: TSFP Store Keeper (1)

Reports to:  TSFP Officer.

Dimensions: Save the Children works in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately 1300 staff and current expenditure of approximately $100+ million each year.

Staff directly reporting to this post:  None.

In line with SCI’s dual mandate, these key areas of accountability apply to Save the Children in Ethiopia’s work in emergencies (acute and chronic) and in development settings.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  • Makes sure  the timely & appropriate distribution of food to the project beneficiaries;
  • Facilitates commodity management and accounting on-job training for health workers and health extension workers;
  • Maintains records and documents related to the operation of the program and all transactions pertaining to the receipt, storage, distribution, inspection and use of commodities;
  • Prepare commodity distribution and transportation plan to each project sites, facilitate payment for daily food distribution agents(FDAs);
  • Makes sure that the commodity warehouse is always clean, well ventilated, rodent-proof and secure for food supplies;
  • Produces periodical reports on food distribution & stock balance;
  • Collect and prepare a periodical report from each distribution sites on the received, distributed and remaining a stock balance of all commodities including drugs.
  • Facilitates annual inventory count of the food commodity at project sites warehouse.
  • Preparing check list for each project district site and cross check the distribution
  • Provide feedback on the status of the supplies to the CMAM officer/TSFP officer/ other related staffs.
  • Responsible for distribution of commodities (CSB++, drugs, WASH materials etc.) to targeted beneficiaries at Kebele level or at health institutions.
  • Collaborate with the Woreda and Emergency Nutrition Response project staffs at the health centers & HPs for the day-to-day implementation of the OTP/SFP/SC services by developing new measures and/or maintain existingmeasures as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor Degree or  Diploma in  relevant field  with 2 years for Bachelor Degree  holder and 4 years for Diploma  holder /Level 4

Skills/Ability required

  • Effective in time management and setting priorities, supervisory and managerial skills.
  • Proven ability to write reports
  • Proven ability to work in teams
  • Ability to work in harsh circumstances and travel to field
  • Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
  • Can communicate in local language( Afan Oromo)
