About the Opportunity

AEC  is currently seeking a qualified Treasury Manager as a key member of the leadership team who will be based in  any of the AEC locations. The Treasury Manager will be in charge of managing the Treasury function and ensuring the company has good financial health. The successful candidate will have the following duties:

Responsibilities

Treasury & Financial Management 90%

  • Maintain real time companywide cash flow projections
  • Maintain and manage a revolving fund for lending in various locations where the company operates
  • Weekly and monthly review of accounts receivable and payables balances
  • Advise Management on short, medium and long term investment opportunities
  • Recommend and put in place financial policies and procedures for treasury management
  • Keep track of incoming and outgoing payments to ensure the company maintains good financial health
  • Regularly provide financial advice to management, that leads to an optimal level of return and liquidity while managing the related risks
  • Coordinate the treasury functions for optimal efficiency and long term growth of the Company.
  • Be the lead communicator and negotiator with financial institutions in regards to treasury for instance exchange rates, fixed deposits interest among others
  • Ensure that the company neither has idle cash nor runs out of cash by maintaining optimal cash balance for operations and investment
  • Work with the Financial controller to regularly monitor the company wide cash and bank balances
  • Conduct benchmarking exercise(s) on treasury management and propose improvement to management
  • Monitor and ensure timely repayment of financial obligations to debt funders
  • Ensure compliance with client and supplier payment terms and that the balances are regularly reconciled

Administration and operations 10%

  • Coordinate with the development team to understand fundraising plans
  • Coordinate with the Investment and finance team to ensure funds are managed as planned
  • Work with Management during the annual budget preparation process
  • Attend meetings with partners and funders as and when invited

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will fulfill the following requirements:

  • University degree in accounting or related field. Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIFA, or CFA or any other accounting or finance related qualification will be preferred
  • At least 5 years of work experience in Accounting, Finance, Treasury or Auditing
  • Prior experience in treasury and cash management is an added advantage
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and skills in using accounting software
  • Good understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPs) and International accounting standards (IASs)
  • Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Understanding of financial reporting and management reporting
  • Ability to assess risks and exercise reasonable judgment in making a decision
  • A critical mind and analytical skills are essential for this role
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with the highest level of personal integrity
  • Fluent in English and any other language is a plus.
