Mission and objectives

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA) was inaugurated in May 2013, it is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and serves 45 Country Offices in sub-Saharan Africa. The UNDP RSCA develops high quality knowledge and policy, and is the organisation’s main interface with regional and continental bodies such as the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities. Our experts support UNDP Country Offices and manage a host of regional programmes and projects in different countries across the continent. The Center also implements a continent-wide Regional Programme supporting Africa’s transformation agenda.

Context

The UNDP’s Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA), located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, administers the Regional Programme for Africa (RPA). This programme addresses continent-wide challenges through various flagship projects, one of which is the African Facility to Support Inclusive Transitions (AFSIT), launched in July 2023 in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC). AFSIT aims to support credible, inclusive, and legitimate transitions towards constitutional rule, democracy, and stability in African countries. The initiative complements AU, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), UN instruments, and other development partners’ efforts to promote inclusive transitions and sustain democratic gains.

Task description

AFSIT team seeks 1 Online Volunteer with proven experience in English-French translation to support the translation of key documents.

The assignment will include the following responsibilities:

• Review and refine the French translation of the Advancing Inclusive Development report.

• Translate the AFSIT 2025 Brochure from English into French.

• Translate the AFSIT 3rd Steering Committee Report from English into French.

• Translate additional AFSIT workshop and dialogue outcome reports from English into French, as required. The estimated workload is expected to include the review of an 80-page report and the translation of approximately 100 pages over the assignment period.
