Mission and objectives
Created by the UN General Assembly in 1970 and administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.
Context
The volunteers will, to the best of their ability, competently and correctly translate the French version of the NSA Report document into the English language. The document will be used to provide to provide inputs for integration of volunteerism in development planning and reporting processes at country level. The text may contain some professional vocabulary. Most of the document uses ordinary understandable words. The document volume will be 15-20 pages in A4 format.
Task description
We are seeking 4 Online Volunteers to support us by translating National Situation Analysis (NSA) Reports on Volunteerism from French to English. To this end the Online Volunteers are asked:
– To translate the document, which is 15-20 pages long into English
– Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience. The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.
The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the regional team at UNV and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to enhancing recognition and integration of volunteerism into development planning and reporting processes at country level.
