Training Officer -Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Deadline: Nov 28, 2022)

Job Description

Environmentalists Development Association – Ethiopia (EDA-E) is a non-for-profit indigenous NGO engaged in the implementation of development activities like ecosystem protection/natural resources management, promotion of renewable energies, potable water supply, undertaking WASH programme and participating in humanitarian responses, etc.

EDAE is intending to implement the project “Deeply Rooted in the Future: Reforestation Supports Environmental Recovery and Income Generation in Dirre Inchini”. It will be located in Oromia Region, West Showa Zone, Dirre Inchini Woreda, an area with very limited amenities. The project needs to employ and station on site a project manager for the period of one year with a possibility of extension.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Arrange and conduct awareness creation workshops that participate project beneficiaries and the relevant sector officers and experts;
  • Carry out training need assessment;
  • Establish, update and maintain data on the types of skill training required as disaggregated in to beneficiary sections
  • Planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating training based on the needs assessment findings/recommendations;
  • Organize appropriate training manuals, teaching aids, ideal timing and venue selection suitable the training type;
  • Facilitate the prompt availability of the logistics required for conducting training;
  • Write and share the proceedings of the training sessions undertaken;
  • Facilitate focused skill training aimed at strengthening the efficiency of the service delivery of the project staff;
  • Facilitate the production/order, filling & issuance and filing of training certificates for trainees following EDA-E’s procedures;
  • Record and properly document detailed data on training conducted;
  • Continuously track the impacts or changes brought about by the training and capture the findings and lessons learned;
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual activity and financial progress reports pertinent to training to the Project Manager;
  •  Perform other relevant duties as may be requested by the Project Manager.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • BSc/BA or MSc/MA in relevant field of study from a recognized university.

Experience:

  •  A minimum of 6-years for BSc/BA Degree and a minimum of 4-years for MSc/MA Degree work experience in the specific project related field

Skills:   

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • – Good technical report writing skills;
  • – Excellent computer skills (esp. proficiency in MS Office) and
  •  – Good command of written and spoken English, Amharic and Afan Oromo
