The Opportunity

Plan International Ethiopia is accepting expressions of interest from national/local Consultants and national/local and international advisors with a strong track record in development and/or humanitarian programmes in one or more of our thematic areas of work. Applicants will be included in our database of pre-approved consultants for short-term and long-term assignments.

Those candidates who are successful at demonstrating strong expertise in Education in Emergencies, Governance/Public Finance Management (PFM), Safer Schools, Climate-responsive Education, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Peace Building, Management Information System (MIS), Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), WASH, and Psychosocial Support, will be asked to undertake some initial background checks and possibly to hold a short online interview with Plan International Ethiopia.

An education programme that will help Ethiopia protect education gains to date, and to level up regions with poor education outcomes and educational inequity. This will be achieved through a focus on equity, including girls, targeting other marginalised groups, and developing regions; and a focus on improving learning outcomes, particularly foundational learning, and the transition to secondary school. It will boost results under other programmes in Ethiopia, on health, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH), that also focus on gender issues such as maternal health, early pregnancy, and menstrual health management.

We are in the process of developing a pool of pre-approved consultants with a strong track record of working in international development and/or humanitarian programmes; applicants will need to be able to demonstrate a strong track record in one or more of the following areas:

The Individual

National/Local Consultants – Total 5+ years of experience and at least 3 relevant experience in the roles

National/Local and International Advisors – Total 7+ years of experience and at least 5 relevant experience in the roles

Language requirements

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is typically required. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the program’s location and target population is an advantage.

• We expect most of the work to be delivered within the regions of Ethiopia. The inability to work on a specific piece of work will not prevent consultants from working with us in the future, as we appreciate that their availability might be limited at times.
• We will confirm the reception of the expression of interest and potentially follow up with the request to undertake some pre-employment checks (these might include Reference check or Acuity check).
• You will then be added to our database of pre-approved consultants; we will reach out to discuss specific pieces of work that are relevant to your skills and experience as they arise.

 

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

• Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
• Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
• Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
• Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
