CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs, or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:  – 

Th The position holder is responsible for the four CMAM component implementation in the woreda and working closely with the woreda, Kebele, community, and religious leaders, HWs, HEWs, and CHVs for the effective implementation and linkage of CMAM program with the community and facility. In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide consistent and high-quality technical support in relation to CMAM implementation and will assist OTP/SC nurses and another team in the woreda to build a strong CMAM implementation package. He/She will also oversee overall health and nutrition implementation in the assigned woreda and support IYCF.

JOB SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on the management of acute malnutrition per national nutrition treatment guide line, 2019
  • Facilitates the trainings under the project.
  • Strengthen the Coordination at woreda level
  • Makes sure that TF program is implemented according to the National protocol i.e. application of the admission and discharge criteria, closely monitors and strictly follows anthropometry measurement
  • Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products and drugs for program implementation
  • Supports and liaise with the health centres staffs and provide on the job training and capacity building where required.
  • Creates and maintain relationship with local health and other authorities and  link CMAM program with the existing health structure smoothly,
  • Works and liaise with  local health workers to integrate the CMAM program from the start,
  • Coordinates the link of acute malnutrition cases with CBN/CHD/TSFP/PSNP and facilitates regular registration of beneficiaries and submits on monthly bases
  • Provides a daily/weekly/and monthly over view of drug items, SFP materials and wet ration stocks supplied to beneficiaries,
  • Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities to participate on the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase out strategy,
  • Provides technical support and training where required to all team members, outreach team including health extension workers and community volunteers,
  • Organizes monthly report of SC/OTP/SFP/Community mobilization and report on time to the Project Manager, Nutrition and provides updates when needed.
  • Manages the stock levels of therapeutic products, drugs and all other materials and alert the logistics in a timely manner as more materials are required.
  • Coaches and supervises the IYCF-Officer, OTP, SC program officers and government staff.
  • Responsible for effective logistic managements
  • Reports any problems in a timely manner to the project manager
  • Do any other tasks as given by line manager

MINIMUM QUALFICATION AND EXPEREINCE

  • BSC/Diploma in Nursing or Public Health (Senior Clinical/Public Nurse or above).
  •  Minimum four years working experience for BSC and six years’ experience for Diploma holders out of which two year experience directly related to emergency health & nutrition related fields

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY 

  • Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Knowledge, training and experience in CMAM  and community mobilization/BCC
  • Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
  • Fluency in spoken and written, English and Local language Afan oromo.
  • Strong computer (Microsoft skills), all and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
