2. KEY FUNCTIONS:
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer and in accordance with the general policies guidelines and procedures of the Company, plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the testing and analyses and laboratory operation functions of the Company; formulates policies strategies and guidelines pertinent to the testing and analyses and laboratory operation functions of the Company and ensures their proper implementation; and ensures that the directorate and its various units are adequately organized and facilitated with the proper manpower, equipment, material and financial resources and are operating smoothly and efficiently to meet
Company objectives and satisfy customer’s requirements.
3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, co-ordinates, and supervises the testing and analyses and laboratory operation functions of the company in line with the general policies, procedures and values of the company;
Formulates policies, strategies, guidelines and procedures pertinent to the testing and analyses and laboratory operation functions of the company and ensures their implementation upon approval;
Prepares long, medium and short term plans for the laboratory operations of the company and ensures their implementation upon approval;
Coordinates and supervises the activities of the laboratory departments of the company;
Ensures the evaluation, training and application of approved techniques and methodologies used in the provision of laboratory services;
Ensures compliance to accepted standards, regulations, procedures, techniques and methodologies in the provision of laboratory services;
Ensures the establishment, implementation and maintenance of appropriate systems and procedures for the provision of efficient, smooth and high quality laboratory services;
Ensures the proper maintenance, replacement, new acquisition, improvement and technical and technological enhancement of the laboratory machinery and equipment as well as systems and procedures;
Reviews, assesses, and approves changes to critical documents such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), associated safety protocols and documentations to ensure improvement in laboratory practices and quality;
Oversees implementations of new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures;
Oversees implementation and maintenance of ISO accreditation of testing, analyses and laboratory services;
Ensures that all health, safety and environmental friendly procedures, regulations and practices are put in place and adhered to;
Facilitates for the continuous professional development and training of the staff to keep abreast with latest developments in the conformity assessment sector;
Appraises the performance of employees directly reporting to him;
Performs other tasks that may be assigned to him/her by the Chief Executive Officer.
About You
4.1 Education:
MSc or BSc in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Sciences, or closely related
fields
4.2 Experience:
10 or 12 years, respectively, of relevant experience of which 2 years should be at
management level.
