Zonal TB Coordinator

Reports to: Regional TB Advisor

Overall Responsibilities

USAID Eliminate TB Project is seeking a Zonal TB Coordinator in SWEP Region. The overall purpose of the candidate is to strengthen TB program implementation and improve performance through high impact activity interventions and focused health facilities support including public, private, and other health facilities in collaboration with regional, zonal and woreda TB teams.

Specific responsibilities

  • Oversight zonal level TB (DS/DR) program implementation
  • Facilitate monthly zonal technical working group monthly meeting and share minute
  • Coordinate zonal level TB and related activities
  • Ensure quality of care and service provision along the patient pathway
  • Plan and communicate monthly HF support as per the guidance
  • Conduct selected facility mentoring and provide onsite orientation and guidance.
  • Provide on job training for Woreda and zonal TB officers.
  • Support and ensure quality facility based integrated TB screening services
  • Facilitate and support contact investigation and TB prevention therapy
  • Assist specimen referral system in collaboration with key actors
  • Support GeneXpert sites for better service utilization while reducing unsuccessful results
  • Able to coordinate collaborating partners and counterparts
  • Coordinate and assist woreda TB officers support to HFs with SoC tool, randomize and transport AFB EQA slides and share the information in time
  • Develop and share best practice and success stories
  • Compile, analyze and share monthly/quarterly reports and information
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualification and minimum requirements

  • BSc in health sciences field plus MSc/MPH from recognized university
  • Previous experience on TB program and support is required
  • Understanding of TB DOTS, PMDT and TB/HIV and EQA programs is essential
  • 3 or more years of work experience in TB or TB/HIV in the existing health system
  • Previous experience with USAID or other USG funded related projects is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively with partners.
  • Computer literacy: competency with Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the catchment area
  • Ability to perform incidental works
