Eastern Africa Projects: Seeking Team Leaders & Technical Experts
We are looking for both Team Leaders and Technical Experts for upcoming projects in Eastern Africa, with a significant focus on Tanzania. While the focus is on Tanzania, we don’t limit our search to this region alone. We’re actively seeking experts in Agroecology as we forecast a surge in similar projects.
Candidate profile:
Professional Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience in the field of agro-ecology, regenerative agriculture or organic agriculture
- Experience in the design and implementation of training courses, demonstrations, and field trials
- Proven track record in capacity building for farmers and agricultural advisory staff
- Experience with institutional and/or policy advice, especially in working with ministries and political institutions in Eastern Africa, preferably including Tanzania
- Experience in the preparation of studies, concept notes, and policy briefs in the agricultural and food sector, in cooperation with research institutions
- Experience in formulating recommendations from research results for various stakeholders
- At least 3 years of project management experience at an international level for Team Leader positions
- Profound knowledge of agro-ecology and organic farming in Germany/Europe and on an international level, especially Sub-Saharan Africa
Regional Expertise & Language Skills:
- Work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, Tanzania
- Proficiency in Swahili is beneficial but not mandatory
Methodological Skills:
- Experience in training and coaching of counterparts, technical specialists, and managers
- Familiarity with curriculum development and participative training methods
- Gender competence, organizational and management skills and diplomatic skills
- Experience in monitoring project results
- Practical experience in working with a variety of stakeholders and ability to network effectively with government agencies, academia, civil society, and the private sector
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
- A University degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Economics, Agro-ecology, Organic Farming, or related fields
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience for Team Leader position; 5 years for Technical Expert
- Management experience in international projects
- Proficiency in both, German and English
START / DURATION:
- Approximately 3 years, starting at the end of 2024
