Job Description

International Development Enterprises (iDE) is an international NGO working with the mission to create income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households in Ethiopia through the various development projects implemented in in six national regional states (Amhara, Oromia, South Ethiopia, South West Ethiopia, Somali and Tigray) of the country. iDE is currently looking for a highly qualified and experienced personnel for the positions that fulfil the requirements specified hereunder for potential project. Position: Team Leader (#1)

The Team Leader will provide strategic and operational leadership to implement all activities of the project. The role involves field program management, team supervision, coordination with partners, and ensuring timely and quality delivery in line with the project standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of all Component One activities, ensuring effective financial management, quality physical performance, and timely delivery of expected results
  • Manage project data and regularly track progress to ensure activities are on track, results are measured accurately, and timely reports are prepared to support decision-making and learning.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of climate-focused awareness campaigns for smallholder farmers and communities.
  • Identify, register, and engage the right target clients, primarily smallholder farmers and ensure their active participation in the program, with a focus on achieving meaningful impact in their livelihoods.
  • Coordinate farmer training sessions, live demonstrations, and Training-of-Trainers (ToT) programs for extension workers and agro-dealers.
  • Facilitate market linkages between producers and institutional and other high level buyers in collaboration with partners
  • Support food processors in transitioning to whole-grain flour production models.
  • Ensure quality assurance, gender inclusion, and climate resilience are mainstreamed throughout all activities.
  • Coordinate closely with project stakeholders including government institutions, cooperatives, MSMEs, and community-based organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) team of the organization to ensure data-driven learning and adaptive program management.
  • Represent iDE Ethiopia in project coordination platforms, technical forums, and donor review meetings.

Duty station for both positions: Hossana and Bishoftu

Salary and benefit package: As per the scale of the Organization.

About You

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Climate Change, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project implementation, preferably in food systems, postharvest management, or climate-smart agriculture.
  • Strong background in behavior change communication and farmer capacity building.
  • Experience working with institutional buyers and food processors is a plus.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate across sectors, and manage multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural project sites.

Desirable Skill

  • Experience in market systems development and private sector engagement.
  • Knowledge of food loss reduction technologies and local service delivery models.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the local language Hosa’enigna and Oromiffa is compulsory
