General Duties and Responsibilities of the Team Lead:
1. Proposal Development and Bid Management
Drive high bid-to-win ratios by developing persuasive and competitive proposals, concept notes, and technical submissions.
Evaluate Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Terms of Reference (TORs) to decide on bid/no-bid options in consultation with Business Development and Business Unit Leadership.
Prepare and submit precise budget parameters for financial proposals, ensuring alignment with project goals and funding frameworks.
Assess winning potential through structured analysis before initiating technical proposal development.
Ensure that all proposal components meet quality standards and that the team is aligned and accountable for timely, high-quality submissions.
Develop accurate, timely budget forecasts and ensure alignment with the approved financial plan.
Monitor and track project expenditures, ensuring compliance with allocated budgets.
Submit field staff deployment schedules (enumerators and supervisors) promptly to facilitate timely disbursements.
Oversee data quality assurance and ensure reliability and integrity across field teams and data collection efforts.
3. Project Implementation and Client Engagement
Lead day-to-day project execution, ensuring deliverables are completed within scope, time, and quality parameters.
Maintain consistent, professional communication with clients, ensuring responsiveness and transparency.
Implement rigorous data quality control measures, including frequent field monitoring and verification.
Document and synthesize lessons learned for continuous improvement across future projects.
Manage and resolve operational challenges, field issues, and client concerns in relation to project-related executions and communication in a timely and constructive manner.
Oversee the preparation, validation, and client approval of data collection tools and questionnaires.
Ensure all project processes from programming and training to pilot testing and tool validation are executed to standard.
Provide weekly project updates and manage ongoing communication with clients.
4. Research, Analysis, and Reporting
Lead the development of evidence-based, analytically rigorous reports that include actionable insights and clear conclusions.
Ensure all reports undergo peer review, with thorough incorporation of internal and client feedback.
Guarantee that final deliverables are professionally edited for content and style, with appropriate infographics, tables, and visualizations.
Coordinate internal rehearsal sessions in preparation for external presentations or validation workshops.
Develop and format high-quality PowerPoint presentations in line with client expectations and brand standards.
5. Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement
Facilitate knowledge-sharing activities such as feedback meetings, post-project reviews, and internal learning sessions.
Implement real-time project monitoring tools, including dashboards, to track progress and ensure timely updates.
6. Team Management and Performance Oversight
Supervise and mentor project team members, setting clear expectations and cascading portfolio-level goals.
Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance using predefined metrics.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual performance reports.
About You
Job Requirements
PhD in Agricultural Sciences; Agricultural Economics; Environment and Natural Resource Management; Development Studies, Agricultural extension; Climate Change; Economics; and related fields.
8 years and above in relevant offices/projects/institutions;
Experience working with International and National Research and consultancy institutes;
Experience in project management related to agriculture is an added advantage
Experience in ArcGIS is an added advantage
Regional and international experience is valued
Knowledge;
Advanced knowledge in either quantitative, qualitative and mixed research;
