Job Description
Role Summary
Are you an experienced policy researcher and international development consultant with deep expertise in European Union (EU) funding instruments and international partnerships?
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Research Specialist to research and draft a strategic publication highlighting UNIDO’s value proposition for the EU and its Member States within the Europe and Central Asia region.
Key Responsibilities

Research Framework Development: Conduct a desk review of UNIDO strategic documents, EU external action policies, the Global Gateway, Team Europe initiatives, and the European Green Deal to build an annotated outline and research framework.

Data Mapping & Portfolio Analysis: Analyze the EU-funded project portfolio, funding trends, and key flagship initiatives in Europe and Central Asia to identify strategic entry points for future cooperation.

Draft Strategic Publication: Author a publication articulating UNIDO’s value proposition for high-level external audiences, incorporating case studies, illustrative data, and clear narrative structures.

Stakeholder Coordination & Finalization: Collaborate with internal bureaus (including GLO/RFO/EUR and the Brussels Liaison Office) to integrate feedback and finalize the paper.

Design & Publication Support: Create a detailed design brief and work with graphic design teams to develop infographic layouts, visual assets, and final publication formats.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, European Studies, or Public Policy. (A Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of directly relevant experience may be accepted).

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in policy analysis, research, or international development cooperation.

EU Policy Expertise: Strong, demonstrated knowledge of EU institutions, funding instruments, and development frameworks.

Writing Skills: Proven track record drafting high-level analytical papers and publications for international stakeholders.

Languages: Native or professional fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
