Job Description

About the role:

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Storekeeper to be responsible for the complete inventory management and warehouse operations for our factory in Debre Birhan. This is a critical role ensuring the efficient control, storage, and distribution of all factory materials, including raw materials, spare parts, chemicals, lubricants, and finished goods. The ideal candidate will be a process-oriented professional committed to maintaining accuracy, security, and efficiency across all storage facilities, including rented warehouses.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Inventory & Stock Control:

  • Maintain accurate and real-time records of all inventory movements using a prescribed inventory system.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and lead comprehensive quarterly physical stock counts; investigate and reconcile any variances promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain bin cards for all items, ensuring they accurately reflect location and quantity balances.
  • Monitor stock levels for raw materials, spare parts, and consumables, and provide regular consumption and stock level reports to management.
  • Track and manage items with expiry dates (e.g., chemicals) to ensure they are used within their shelf life.

Receiving & Storage:

  • Receive all incoming materials, verifying quantity, quality, and specifications against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Document and report any damages, discrepancies, or non-conforming items to the line manager and relevant departments (e.g., Procurement).
  • Ensure all received goods are properly stored, organised, and labelled for easy identification and retrieval.
  • Maintain the warehouse in a neat, orderly, and safe condition, adhering to all safety standards and operating procedures.

Issuance & Dispatch:

  • Control the disbursement of materials (raw materials, spares, chemicals) to user departments based on authorised requisitions.
  • Coordinate the dispatch of finished goods, ensuring accurate picking, packing, and documentation.
  • Oversee all logistics movements to and from the warehouse and rented storage locations.

Administration & Compliance:

  • Document all warehouse transactions completely and accurately.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team, transporters, and suppliers regarding material deliveries and schedules.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company policies and procedures, especially regarding inventory control and warehouse security.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

About You

Qualification Requirements:

  • TVET Level III or Diploma in Procurement & Supply Management, Accounting, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in storekeeping, inventory control, or warehouse management, preferably within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Practical experience managing a diverse range of inventory, including raw materials, spare parts, and chemicals.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel for data entry and analysis.
  • Willingness to work on a shift schedule as required.
