sequa gGmbH is a globally operating non-profit development organization. Since 1991 sequa has carried out programs and projects of international cooperation in close collaboration with the German private sector. sequa offers know-how and long-term experience in capacity development for chambers and associations (BMOs), vocational education and training, private sector development and trade promotion. The organization is based in Bonn, Germany. sequa employs more than 100 persons (2022) and reported a turnover of EUR 58 m in 2021.

The Project

Within the GIZ Programme Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition”, sequa implements the “SME Grant Scheme targeting growth orientated SMEs” project in Ethiopia. With this, sequa aims to facilitate business growth and job creation of Ethiopian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by increasing their competitiveness and productivity so that their products and services will satisfy the demand on local and international markets. A specific focus will be provided for women-owned SMEs, job-creation, and employability training for women.

Benefiting companies receive flexible and demand-oriented funding (management consulting, technical training, financial competence / business plan development, qualification, applied research activities, etc.). A special focus will be on advisory services to improve access to finance. The grant scheme is expected to contribute to SMEs’ change management and business growth.

Taskmoby is a web-based platform that connects businesses and individuals to local service providers for various tasks and projects. The platform is designed to make it easier for clients to find, book, and pay for services while also providing a reliable and efficient source of work for service providers. Hence, the reason for selecting the platform to be supported by the grant scheme is the potential to create job opportunities.

Taskmoby addresses the dual problems of finding reliable and trustworthy service providers and the convenience of accessing services. The platform achieves this by offering users a curated list of service providers with past reviews and ratings, ensuring that users can easily find a trustworthy service provider. Additionally, Taskmoby provides an app that allows users to book services quickly and easily from their smartphones, solving the problem of convenience in accessing services.

The platform offers various task categories, including home repairs, cleaning, plumbing, electricity, and more. Clients can search for specific services and locations and compare prices and ratings from providers in their area. Clients can then book a service request and communicate with the provider directly through the platform. The requested marketing support would be a significant input to the SME to promote their services, increase their service reachability, and provide jobs for more service providers.

Your Tasks / Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Preparing detailed proposals and marketing plans to communicate the value proposition and goals to potential clients,
  • Conducting market research to help understand customers, competitors, and market trends,
  • Coaching the marketing team in the execution of B2B and B2C campaigns,
  • Crafting main media messages for B2C customers,
  • Developing marketing plans to achieve business objectives.

Assignment Period: 06/2023 – 07/2023

Working time scope: 20 days, potentially extendable based on project needs

Job Requirements

Your Qualification / Skills

  • BSc/BA in marketing, communications, business or relevant field; MSc/MA is preferable,
  • Knowledge of Data Analysis and Marketing Research,
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically,
  • In-depth understanding of marketing principles,
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Your Working Experience

  • More than four years of marketing experience, including B2B and B2C,
  • More than two years of experience in developing & implementing marketing strategies and creating business linkages. Please provide a clear description of achievements made for the companies consulted,
  • Proven work experience in early-stage start-ups,
  • Proven work experience in product development for digital companies.
