Job Description

Professional Alliance for Development (PADet) is an Ethiopian Residential Charity organization which runs various developmental programs at community level focusing on Reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, child development and Livelihood promotion programs to empower vulnerable women, children and youth in North Wollo Zone, South Wollo Zone, Awi Zone, South Gondar, North Shoa Zone – Amhara Region, Oromia Special Woreda – Oromia Region, Afar Region and Addis Ababa.

PADet has been working since 1998 in partnership with various International Donors, Regional Governments, National CSOs and the communities.

Currently, PADet has a plan to implement “Yene Raey” project in Bahirdar Zuriya, Fageta – Amhara region & Kersa Woreda -Jima- Oromia region financed by Plan International and need to recruit qualified and competent Nominees in the following job opportunities.

Job Summary: The SRHR Officer is responsible for the effective, qualitative and efficient implementation of Yene Raey Project activities at both in school and out of school level, providing technical support and on job training for the project staffs, adolescent girls and stakeholders.  Under the direct supervision of the project coordinator, the SRHR officer plans, supervises and ensure execution of the SRHR activities including proper management of girl’s MHM services, conducting capacity building for adolescent girls and parents, empowering girls through launching feasible IGA schemes, conduct awareness on family planning, HTPs, menstruation, etc. and facilitating peer sessions, etc. S/he follows MOH guidelines and universal standards to ensure quality service delivery. The SRHR Officer will be responsible to ensure the achievement of Yene Raey Project in the assigned location in collaboration other like-minded local partners and HF staff and creating a robust school and community based SRH interventions. The SRHR officer is the first level focal person to the RH interventions of PADet at the grass root level (school based and out of school level).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Planning SRH activities and follow up their execution
  • Monitor the project activities both in school and out of school level
  • Prepares and follow up health awareness peer sessions in SRH
  • Ensure collection and submission of SRH data to the project coordinator
  • Provide on-job training and follow up for the project staff, adolescent girls, parents and government stakeholder staffs on SRH
  • Provide Family planning counseling as a routine and on request (where possible to parents)
  • Manage sexual transmitted infections according to national/global protocol.
  • Maintain adolescent girls’ confidentiality
  • Identify cases needing referral and refer them in time,
  • Identify Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and collaborate with the project team and other partner staffs for treatment.
  • Ensure that the goals and objectives of the project are met as per the project proposal, work plan and M&E Plan
  • Ensure that all specified SRHR activities are implemented in target schools and the surrounding local communities.
  • Liaises and builds strong linkages and partnerships with other partners, zonal, and Woreda partners implementing SRHR services in the targeted area.
  • Conduct rapid assessments to identify gaps in training, need for refresher training and additional skills strengthening of adolescent girls, young boys and parents; develop training plans to ensure coverage of skilled staffs who can provide comprehensive, high-quality RH services
  • Work towards quality data management system for Yene Raey Project.
  • Keep health program activity records both in soft and hard copies and provide activity reports as required by PADet and the donor timely.
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by PC

Job Requirements

Qualification and skills Requirement:

  • Diploma /BSC in public health, Midwifery or Nursing with at least 5 years for diploma/3 years for degree working experience in related position
  • Oral and written fluency in English, Amharic, Oromigna for Kersa site
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
  • Hands-on experience in SRHR projects implementation, monitoring, evaluating and reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication, facilitation and writing skills
  • Experiences in gender transformative programming and SRHR
  • Experience in disability inclusion
  • Proven qualifications, experience, or training in community mobilization and community health promotion.
  • Knowledge on culturally sound IEC/SBCC material on SRH topics
  • Experience in execution and facilitating trainings
  • Experiences in climate resilience and livelihood promotion is an added asset
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft basics and internet
  • Motor cycle driving license and experience in Local NGO is advantageous
  • Proven report writing and communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal and organizing and make logical and timely decision skills;

Personal Competency:

  • Willingness to work in extra working hours and weekends with staffs;
  • Highly motivated, self-managed and Strategic oriented;
  • High level commitment to achieve project goal and Objectives;
  • Able to work with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to prepare and submit reports timely;
