Role Summary
Splash delivers clean water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health (WASH-M) programs across public schools in major cities globally. Having served over 1.2 million children across 2,500+ projects, the organization is scaling its operations into new regions, including large-scale school partnerships in Zambia.
The incoming COO will partner closely with the CEO and founder to convert visionary strategy into operational discipline. This role owns Splash’s operating rhythm, decision frameworks, cross-team coordination, and infrastructure across global hubs.
Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & CEO Partnership: Serve on the management team, direct resource allocation, hold leadership accountable, and act as operational counterpart to the CEO.

Execution & Operating Rhythm: Build and run planning cycles, progress reviews, risk management protocols, and decision-tracking frameworks.

Functional Ownership: Direct core Operations functions—procurement, technology, security, administration, contracting, and People & Culture.

Cross-Functional Integration: Align program design with delivery across country offices, legal architectures, and proposal pipelines.

Culture & Communication: Steward internal communications, drive DEI initiatives, and manage change across a distributed global team.
Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: Typically 15+ years of senior leadership experience (e.g., COO, Deputy Director, Managing Director, or Senior Chief of Staff) managing growth and organizational complexity.

Operational Track Record: Proven success building operational systems, governance frameworks, and decision-making processes.

Global Exposure: Demonstrated experience leading distributed, multicultural teams in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Nonprofit Governance: Familiarity with US non-profit operational frameworks and international compliance standards.

Sector Background: Experience in global development, WASH, or global health is preferred, though operational excellence remains the primary criteria.
