Job Description

Introduction
In the framework of the RESTART project, under the supervision of the Project Manager and the Protection and Migration Expert, CIFA is looking for 1 Socio Economic Expert in South Wollo (Dessie City, Dessie Zuria, Kombolcha, Kalu)
Project
The project “RESTART: Emergency initiative to support migrants, returnees and vulnerable communities in Addis Ababa and South Wollo” is an integrated intervention to mitigate the main roots and consequences of irregular migration, and to improve the living conditions of the categories at greater risks exposure.
The project aims at supporting the reintegration of returnees and preventing the illegal depart of unskilled young migrants, while strengthening the capacities of local services targeting unemployed and vulnerable people in Addis Ababa and South Wollo Zone.
Organization
CIFA is an international NGO with over 40 years of commitment in protecting the most vulnerable children and youth. Working in Ethiopia for over 20 years, CIFA supports the access to primary and secondary education, especially for girls; it fights against the worst forms of discrimination and supports women’s economic empowerment. With this approach, CIFA currently works in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa City Administration, Amhara (South Wollo), Hareri and Oromia Region.

Key Tasks

  •  Coaching, start-up and follow-up of activity generators of income for the project’s beneficiaries.
  • Creation and formation of Self Help Groups
  • Support in accompanying beneficiaries and collaboration with the programme team
  • Participation in the preparation and provision of basic business, life skills and cooperative training for selected beneficiaries
  • Conducts home and small business visits of beneficiaries to provide them with appropriate coaching and counselling while they are carrying out their business activities
  • Follow-up and monitor the changes observed in the families supported by the project
  • Prepares a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plan of activities
  • Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly reports on activities carried out
  • Establishes good relations with beneficiaries and local government representatives;
  • Support in the implementation of business plans.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & requirements
Qualifications:
  • Degree in socio-economic sciences, economy, business management.
Experience: 
  • Previous experience in supervision and coaching roles for three years at least
  • Previous experience working with INGOs or humanitarian organizations for 3 years at least;
Personal Skills:
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • Good management, administrative and communication skills;
  • Must be organized, able to be multi-tasking, flexible, and able to work as a team and individual;
  • Strong interpersonal and empathic skills
Languages:
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal;
  • Excellent communication skills in Amharic, both written and verbal
