Job contract duration: one year, renewable based on performance (60 days of probation period).

Working in Ethiopia for over 20 years, CIFA supports the access to primary and secondary education, especially for girls; fights against the worst form of discrimination and supports women’s economic empowerment.

Within this context CIFA works in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa City Administration, Amhara, Hareri and Oromia Region.

The project 

The project “CHALLENGES, Support, Training and Entrepreneurship in Dessie, Ethiopia” is an integrated intervention to mitigate the main roots and consequences of illegal migration, and to improve the living conditions of the categories at greater risks exposure. The project aims at supporting the reintegration of returnees and preventing the illegal depart of unskilled young migrants, while strengthening the capacities of local services targeting unemployed and vulnerable people in Dessie City Administration and Dessie Zuria, South Wollo Zone, Amhara Region.

The role

The Socio-economic expert will be based in Dessie, and Dessie Zuria Woreda, and he/she will be responsible for the selection and verification process of target beneficiaries in collaboration with all the responsible partners in the intervention areas. He/she will assist the beneficiaries during the training and the job placement phases. He/She will contribute to collect relevant socioeconomic data in the project implementation areas and generate basic relevant information from the target groups in relation to their socioeconomic status.

Major responsibilities

·       Identification of the beneficiaries based on the selection criteria and in collaboration with LAs

·       Selection of youth and returnees that will benefit from training, access to credit for self-employments and job placement in the viable value chains as per the results of market analysis

·       Beneficiaries profiling and competencies analysis

·       Facilitation of beneficiaries’ access to the vocational skills training among the selected TVETs colleges;

·       Contribute to the development of a protocol with local authorities for the selection of target beneficiaries in order to harmonize public employment services procedures of local administrations;

·       Contribute to the data generations process for the PES center in Dessie City Administrations;

·       Conduct collection, compilation and documentations of relevant socio-economic data of the project beneficiaries

·       Provision of business development services and micro-entrepreneurial trainings for the target groups

·       Actively support the startup of the micro-entrepreneurial activities initiated by the beneficiaries

·       Support on fulfilling the criteria to access credit and working space in collaboration with Las

·       Youth fund

Execute any additional assignments provided by the immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

       Requirements:

·       BA/MA, B.SC/MSC in  Economics, business management, public policies; Communications and related fields of studies

 Experience:

·       At least 5 years’ experience in organizing, developing, coaching of SME, IGAs and PES

·       Experience in project follow-up, data collection and monitoring and periodic narrative reports;

·       Team player and problem-solving attitude, good analytical skills, flexible and goal-oriented;

·       Experiences in working with NGOs and knowledge and working experience in area of intervention.

Language and communications:

·       Excellent written and spoken Amharic and English languages are mandatory.
