AHF-Ethiopia has been supporting the Ethiopian Government in the effort to improve access by delivering a comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment services through its standalone clinic and outreach HIV testing sites. Moreover, in consultation with the FMOH, it has expanded its operation to government and other NGO HIV care facilities. Currently, AHF-Ethiopia is providing care to more than 59,400 HIV positive patients in all the 19 sites it is supporting and conducts more than 100,000 HIV rapid tests on annual basis.

To deliver the said services effectively and efficiently, AHF-Ethiopia wishes to recruit a dynamic, skilled, committed, self-driven, and result-oriented professionals to fill required positions.

Objective:

AHF-Ethiopia is currently working with MoH, RHB and partners hand in hand in comprehensive and client centered HIV prevention, care and treatment services. To continue supporting the MoH and RHB in HIV prevention, testing, treatment, linkage, and retention, qualified candidate with diverse experience is highly required.

AHF-Ethiopia and St Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) have agreed to partner in maximizing the effort of HIV prevention, treatment and care provided in the different service units of the hospital. The Site Nurse Mentor will be responsible to ensure the delivery of quality service to more than 5,000 HIV positive patients at SPHMMC and execute the following duties and responsibilities to meet the stated objective.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  In close collaboration with the hospital ART Clinician and other clinical staffs, take in the direct clinical care provision of comprehensive, quality, evidence based ART (including early initiation for the eligible and ready patients), PMTCT, TB/HIV co management, OI management, and Prevention with positive (Pwp), STI/SCM), care for HEI, management of malnutrition, HIV FP integration, retention to care, treatment failure, MDR-TB to both Adult and Pediatric Patient.
  • Basing at the SPHMMC ART clinic, establish a good working relationship with the hospital staff and other partner staff to ensure quality service delivery
  • Take the role of focal person of AHF-Ethiopia at SPHMMC and lead the other AHF-ET staff in their routine care provision and other duties
  • Conduct clinical mentorship twice per month using the Mentoring Checklist modified per AHF need to the clinical staffs (Nurses) on the standardize clinical service provision
  • Review weekly report every week and resolving cases of delayed ART initiation, delayed tracing based on the finding.
  • Reviewing the positive track register and ICT register every week to identify and resolve faulty linkages and take lasting solutions
  • Work with the clinical staff and hospital management to create a conducive environment for continued medical education
  • Prepare the resource needed for quality care provision of the facility and make a request for supply or purchase and facilitate delivery
  • Ensure the documentation of all the services provided in the clinic in the appropriate register and format
  • Work with the leadership team and hospital management to create understanding of AHF-ET support to the hospital and monitoring the progress of participation, and attain the intended quality of service
  • Work with the hospital clinical staff to document the service provided in the clinic
  • Develop and administer didactic presentation to clinical staff on difference topics related to clinical care provision
  • Facilitate the organization of case-based review in the hospital for the staff at the HIV treatment units
  • Develop and administer mentee preceptorship and take action on the findings
  • Work with the hospital staff to rearrange the patient workflow that best fit the setting and maximize client stratification
  • Conduct SOC evaluation every two-month using the checklist on the national HIV service quality improvement toolkit
  • Preparing and involve on monthly and quarterly Performance Meeting held by the Hospital AHF Team. On similar platforms, prepare and administer presentation on the progress of clinical mentorship and various performance of the hospital HIV/ART program to the clinic staff and leadership team
  • Function as focal person for facility clinical data regarding AHF Ethiopia support: Distribute all data capturing and reporting formats to respective units; Collect reports from all required units.; Archive report (both printed and electronic copies) with their proper label at data room
  • Ensure all Program related registers (VCT, PITC, Pre ART/ ART, HEI, HIV+ tracking register, nutritional support, adolescent support, adult group and other HMIS registers) are filled and updated timely and accurately
  • Review the monthly PMC Chart, Quarter PPR, and Benchmark reports to keep up desirable results and to improve on gaps
  • Along with the facility staff and data clerk, facilitate the conduction of periodic clinical service quality program assessments (E.g. Benchmarks, Client Satisfaction Survey, Time in Motion Surveys, and so forth and ensure these are uploaded to AHF Web timely
  • Facilitate the establishment of credit services with available outside service providers and review service purchase requests (Lab investigation requests/ Diagnostic test requests/ Pharmaceutical prescription before sending out to outside credit services) and approve, document on the appropriate register and review and approve payment request from these outside credit providers for the respective facility
  • Provide continues and periodic feedback (written and oral) on the overall HIV service to Clinical Mentor Coordinator (CMC) and Facility Focal person
  • Provide monthly activity report to the CMC
  • Advice clinical Mentor Coordinator and Medical Director in initiating various quality improvement projects i.e., provide proof of concept on creative project initiatives
  • Execute activities related to patient care delivery as given by the Clinical Mentor Coordinator, Medical Director or the Country Program Director

Job Requirements

Education, Qualification, and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Public Health or Clinical Nursing. Masters Degree in Public Health or Clinical Nursing would be an advantage
  • Direct clinical care provision experience at ART or PMTCT clinic for more than 3 years in the last five years; preferably in high load hospital
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical mentorship of HIV/ART programs
  • In-depth understanding of the clinical service setting particular in hospital environment
  • Training or experience in healthcare quality improvement, clinical capacity building, and design of educational training materials is desirable
  • Basic and/or refreshment training in Clinical Mentorship for ART programs
  • Well experienced in assessing, counselling and clinical management of PLHIV
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relation with hospital staff, partner mentoring staff, and facility leadership
  • Proficiency in writing and speaking in Amharic and English
  • Ability to work for extended working hours for the wellbeing of patients
  • Proficient in report writing and good skill of basic computer programs
