Senior Project Associate-Health (EPHI) -Affiliated Contractor

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities in close collaboration with EPHI in line with IOM objectives.
2. Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration at IOM and EPHI.
3. Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with EPHI units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions.
4. Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures.
5. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
6. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
7. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
8. Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
9. Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.
10. Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff at IOM and EPHI.
11. Participate in meetings and conferences related to migrant health; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
12. Support the strengthening of IOM Ethiopia’s migration health programming and activities, including by contributing to project development and by identifying and address gaps in coordination with EPHI.
13. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• University Degree with at least four years of relevant working experience. 

• Secondary School Diploma with at least six years of relevant working experience.

Experience

• Experience working with Ethiopian Public Health institute

• Experience in managing large dynamic teams, with a customer service, IT or administrative background; 

• Knowledge of data management principles;

• Certificate in IT/Data entry is an advantage;

• Knowledge of customer care;

• High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office is mandatory, knowledge of web page design would be an asset;

• In-depth use of MS office applications, data collection and manipulation;

• Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as previous secretarial and archival experience, an added advantage; and,

• Previous working experience with NGOs or international organizations is an added advantage.

Skills

• At least an intermediate level of MS office skills;

• Effective managerial and leadership skills in the provision of data entry and customer care;

• Analytical skills;

• Excellent communication skills;

• Fast and accurate typing.

Languages

REQUIRED

• External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish). For all applicants, fluency in English & Amharic is required (oral and written).

DESIRABLE

• Other Ethiopian languages incl. Afaan Oromoo and Tigrigna.
• Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
