4.    Job Description:

As a boarding school, teaching life extends well beyond time spent with students in a classroom. Tutorials, clubs, study hall supervision, field trips and ongoing engaging school wide activities also form part of a teacher’s responsibilities. 5.   Role and Responsibilities

ODA Boarding School  Guidance & Counselor is  responsible for:

  •  Providing professional assistance on welcoming, handling and managing the students and support teachers to prepare psychologically.
  •  Provide warm welcoming and continuous induction support for newly arrived students in collaboration with student dean and gender clubs.
  •  Provide professional consults for the students in order to make psychological readiness to realize their ability and professional tendency
  •  Preparing studying skill manual and aware students on how they use it. And make follow up its effectiveness
  • Identifying talented students those who have creative ability and disclose their creative work in a way of experience sharing in that it improves the performance of other students
  • Following those students who are late in understanding their lesson and prepare a condition in which they can get support from teachers and the school community. Moreover, helps them not to be hopeless in their life and on their educational activity
  •  Advising and guiding students who have unwanted behavior and help them to follow his/her lesson
  •   Identifying and Studying the kind of repeated offenses and their causes and recommend and provide possible solutions,
  •  Following those students who have personal problem ( behavioral, social, academic and economic) and/or with disability, the psychologist seek different mechanisms to support them at the school capacity level
  •  Based on his/her activity, at the end of the month he/she has to submit report to the concerned body
  • Work as school unit leaders so that he/she can contribute for positive students’ behavior development
  • Keep oneself with well-organized students’ behavioral record so as to make necessary support for needy students.
  • Work jointly with school health professionals, proctors, librarians and teachers.
  • Actively participate in every flag ceremony to follow students’ punctuality so as to discharge his/her professional responsibility.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Boarding School

 

Job Requirements

   6.   Job Requirements    6.1. Qualifications

  • Have Bachelor Degree in subject teaching areas
  •  Have a Bachelor of Education degree  in  psychology.
  •  Have a minimum  CGPA 2.75 for first degree applicants
  •  Two years performance evaluation result on average 90% and above
  •  Minimum 2 years work experience

6.2.     Knowledge & Skills requirements

  • Willing to attend in service training of teachers, self-motivated energetic, organized and flexible individual
  • Free from any addiction and well-mannered good conduct with no bad records
  •  In principle willing to be around the school compound 24:00 hours except in exceptional condition
  • Understanding of the nature of boarding school and needs of high school students
  •  Written and oral communication skills in English and Afan Oromo are mandatory.
  • Professionally ethical, honest and willing to serve as outstanding role model in the community
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Email usage, Google Suite, internet searching and willing to learn new computer skills
  •  Able to demonstrate learner-centered teaching methodologies and are eager to continue to learn
  •  Experienced working in schools with a  mission for academic excellence and student engagement
  • Willing to embrace and adhere to the ODA Boarding School’s requirements, values & mission
  •  Active team players and problem solvers
  •  Outstanding communicators  and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Committed and passionate to teaching and  highly motivated towards student development and growth
  •  Willing to teach and support students after hours and on weekends
