Request for proposals: Scoping study to inform UK advocacy campaign

We are currently seeking a consultant to undertake a scoping study to inform Brooke’s advocacy strategy on the donkey skins trade in the UK.

Location: UK or a Brooke country of operation (Ethiopia, Nicaragua, India, Pakistan, Senegal or Kenya)

Deadline: 28 December 2025

Job Description

Background
Brooke is an international charity dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of horses, donkeys, and mules, enabling people in the developing world to work their way out of poverty.

One of our key issues of focus is the trade in donkey skins in response to demand for ejiao, a substance derived from boiled donkey skins used in supplements and beauty products. With 6 millions skins traded annually, communities who rely on working donkeys are losing their livelihoods. Brooke has been campaigning to stop the slaughter of donkeys for the skins, successfully advocating for national bans across Africa and the African Union moratorium on 2024.
