Position title:                         Regional Purchaser Driver and Liaison Assistant

Working location:                 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Reports to:                             Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development

Region:                                  East and Southern Africa (ESAF).

SOS CVI Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office ( ESAF) would like to recruit to fill the following vacant position within its Human resource and Organization development function.

Summary of the Position

Under the direction of the General Services Unit Coordinator, The Driver transports Co-Workers, SOS visitors and other official passengers and also provides messenger services to the office in the region in line with the relevant SOS Children’s Villages policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transportation of passengers

 

  • Effectively and timeously transports:

 

    • Regional Team on business errands.
    • SOS Children and Visitors to the office.
    • Dependents of staff members when staff are on business errand as authorized by the office.
    • Support staff with the delivery and collection of vehicles for repairs and maintenance.
    • Ensure passenger safety at all times (Sit belts, use of cell phones etc).
  • Keeps a diary with up to date information of all scheduled work and Co-Workers travel and pick ups including pick up by other providers or family.
  • Provides Messenger Services for the Office
    • Collects and distributes mail and other document/goods from post office and other sources.
    • Dispatches office postage.
    • Does Bank errands.
    • Delivers and collects items to and from service providers as required.
    • Assist in various liasoning assignment including processing visa by dropping & collecting documents and passports respectively.
    • Liaisons other office related cases at deferent government and non-governmental offices
    • Assist in procurement processes by collecting proforma and related documents and undertake related activities
  • Leads in Vehicle Maintenance
    • Maintains vehicle log books, advising other vehicle users on procedures.
    • Ensures vehicles are serviced and repaired on time.
    • Cleans vehicles at least once a week.
    • Ensures vehicles are fueled timely.
    • Gives guidance to staff utilising official vehicles on special features in vehicles and general procedures.
    • Keeps a record of all items necessary for vehicle safety (fire extinguisher, first aid kit, jack and vehicle repair tools)
    • Organizes regular vehicle service maintenance and repairs as necessary (collection of proformas, organization of time schedule, and control of maintenance and repair work).
    • Responsible for accurate logbook and any other administrative documentation related to the assigned vehicle.

Requirements:

    • Vocational TVT Diploma in Auto mechanic 10+3
    • A minimum of six years working experience, preferably with international organizations such as embassies, the UN or NGOs
    • Grade 3 Driver’s License, with a minimum record of five years of accident free driving
    • Excellent organizational skills, Experience in admin support work
    • Excellent communication skills and team spirit, honest and pleasant personality
    • Professional conduct in providing driving service to diverse range of customers including persons with disabilities
    • Fluent knowledge of spoken English
    • Ability to use computer and basic applications and basic internet and email
