Job Description

An exciting Regional Human Resource Officer role has arisen in our East & Central Africa regional office. This role will assist the Regional HR Business Partner in providing pro-active, quality HR service to the East and Central Africa country teams within Tearfund (eg. Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Central African Republic). In particular, to provide support to the Regional HR Business Partner both in terms of HR administration, recruitment, training and assistance in delegated tasks and project work.

The scope of the Regional Human Resource Role would include:

  • Provide comprehensive, administrative support to the Regional HR Business Partner
  • Deal with routine HR enquiries in relation to East and Central Africa Region
  • Ensure effective payroll liaison and administration in relation to designated areas
  • Ensure HR compliance and update the HR system and maintain electronic and paper filing systems
  • To ensure that job vacancies are managed in a timely and effective way to best support recruiting managers through the recruitment cycle
  • Provide induction & trainings to staff, line managers and HR focal points in the ECA Region
  • Assist the Regional HR Business Partner in project work, research or statistical analysis
  • Contribute to the life and work of the team, helping out administratively where necessary

Qualifications and experience required:

  • University degrees in HR or similar level of knowledge
  • Substantial experience of human resources (or similar) work experience required, preferably in the international development/humanitarian sector
  • Experience and proven ability to develop and manage a range of administrative processes
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment
  • Team working
  • Experience and proven ability to deliver trainings
  • Some experience of working with people from different cultures will be an added advantage

Note:

Tearfund is a faith based organisation and candidates must be sympathetic to our Christian beliefs. The successful candidate will need to have the right to live and work within one of the 6 countries in Tearfund’s ECA region team – South Sudan, DRC, CAR, Burundi, Ethiopia and Rwanda.

The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
