Regional Donor Relations and Programme Quality Manager*
in Addis Abeba

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Addis Abeba, Ethiopia.

As Regional Donor Relations and Programme Quality Manager you will support the Head of Programmes to develop and implement programmes and projects, to diversify the Country Office donor base and keep strong relationships with donors. You will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Country Office and will contribute to the implementation of the overall country strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Follow-up on and review the Country Office donor strategy and ensure donor relation management (incl. donor visits to projects) – especially German donors
  • Ensure timely and high quality donor reporting and communication (e.g. amendments, extensions)
  • Translation of donor communication, reports and proposals
  • Pro-actively develop new project ideas or initiatives and conceptualize them into proposals
  • Advise or lead proposal development processes and make sure learnings from past projects are taken into consideration
  • Ensure projects are managed according to Welthungerhilfe and donor standards and implementation is according to budget and time plan
  • Ensure consideration of do-no-harm principles, accountability, and sustainability in projects
  • Ensure mainstreaming of topics of strategic relevance such as gender, inclusion, climate and conflict sensitivity, Triple Nexus
  • Ensure that all obligatory programme and project relevant documents are updated in the internal project management system
  • Ensure close coordination and collaboration with other relevant stakeholders from civil society, government, the private sector and academia in the area of responsibility
  • Engage in Alliance 2015 learning, sharing and collaboration on program level
  • Manage and recruit part of program staff, including capacity building

Your profile

  • A university/polytechnic degree or comparable training in a field commensurate with this position
  • At least 3-5 years of working experience in the development/humanitarian aid sector
  • Demonstrated experience in donor relations management and programme/project management
  • BMZ donor experience is required
  • Strong understanding of all stages of program cycle management and quality standards in development programming
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English and German language skills
