Job Description

DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs; Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position: Regional Capacity Building Advisor

Summary

The Capacity Building Advisor will support a diverse range of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and partners and take the lead in their organizational development and systems-strengthening activities, design and implement tailored capacity-building activities, participate in monitoring each partner to ensure timely implementation of activities, and that quality requirements and standards are met.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Coordinator in the assessment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Participate in project target/ CSOs identification, building capacity, coaching, and monitoring.
  • Create a good and collaborative work atmosphere with the Program Coordinator and grass root level community.
  • Communicate and cooperate with relevant stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Closely work with identified CSOs, local authorities, relevant government stakeholders, and the project team.
  • Collect, document, and manage data of all target CSO in the target region
  • Prepare quarter, biannual, and annual work plans and reports and submit them to the project coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with target CSOs and like-minded organizations.
  • Participate in project proposal development process including new program/project development, possible revision, and amendment as necessary.
  • Document best practices of the project activities in collaboration with DEC & partner org PMEL unit and share with relevant bodies
  • Perform these and other tasks as required by the project Coordinator, Program Coordinator, or SMT of DEC

Job Requirements

Academic Qualification & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or any other Social Science field. At least 5 years of related experience in NGOs or related sectors.

Additional Skill

  • Fluency in English and Amharic; proficiency in the local language is advantageous
  • Good communication skills in team works and team mobilizations and partnership management;
  • Experience working with government stakeholders and CSOs, familiar with relevant government regulations and different formats
  • Experience in facilitating assessments, best practice capturing, and working with communities
  • Ability to conduct training and track progress;
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
  • Good report writing, use of technology application skills
