About FEAPD & the Program

The Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD) is dedicated to promoting the rights, inclusion, and empowerment of persons with disabilities across Ethiopia. Our mission is to advocate for equal opportunities, strengthen member associations, and ensure that persons with disabilities are active participants in social, economic, and political life.

FEAPD is currently co-implementing the WCW program, which is a multi-country initiative implemented in seven African countries, including Ethiopia, aimed at improving access to dignified and fulfilling employment for young women and men with disabilities. The program (2023 – 2030) was co-designed with youth with disabilities and various stakeholders to address key barriers to inclusion in work and public life.

In Ethiopia, FEAPD is implementing Pillar 3 – Advocacy, focusing on strengthening policies, systems, and practices that promote inclusive employment and ensure the voices of youth with disabilities are heard at all levels.

Purpose of the Role

The Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project activities to ensure effective delivery of outcomes. The role focuses on advocacy, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and evidence collection to support program objectives and strengthen community impact.

.Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation & Coordination

• Plan, organize, and oversee project activities within assigned districts.
• Ensure timely execution of advocacy campaigns, awareness initiatives, and community mobilization efforts.

Capacity Building & Training

• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for youth with disabilities, employers, and government stakeholders.
• Support knowledge-sharing and skill development to enhance project sustainability.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Track project progress against objectives and deliverables.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports for the Project Coordinator and management team.

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, civil society organizations, and community leaders.
• Strengthen collaboration to maximize project impact and visibility.
• Provide technical support and closely work with OPDs in the region and project areas

Evidence & Advocacy Support

• Collect data, success stories, and lessons learned to inform evidence-based advocacy.
• Contribute to documentation that supports policy influence and program improvement.

Reporting Lines

• Reports to: Advocacy & Disability Inclusion Advisor
• Supervises: None (may oversee youth advocates or volunteers as assigned)
• Collaborates with: Program staff, local partners, government representatives, and community stakeholders

Qualifications & Competencies Required

• Bachelor’s degree or MA in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in project implementation, preferably in advocacy, disability inclusion, or community development
• Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of disability rights and inclusive development approaches.
• Fluency in Amharic; knowledge of Wolaita language is an asset.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in surrounding districts.
