Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

SOS Childrn’s Village Ethiopia is seeking to implment anew project which focus on Cildrens In Street Situation in three cites namely Addis Ababa,Adama and Diredawa.The aimof the project is to transform and empower children who work and live on the streets of those cities by employing an integrated intervention that mixes outreach services,family tracking and reitegration,skills development and creating comunity based sustainable solutions targeting systems, structures and policies related to children in street situations. This includes direct work with children in street sitiuations, adult caregivers, and young persons as a strategy to adress the situation of street chilldren.

Why we need you?

We are looking for a project Officer, who will be responsible for mobilizing different CBOs at community level to address Street children protection establish and support CC and COC groups at community level for smooth project implementation and conduct sensitization of the project objectives and results to concerned kebele, community leaders, beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders. Project community engagement and partnership development officer is generally responsible for the development and maintenance of partnerships with stakeholders, industries, institutes and public organizations.

Your role?

As a Project Community engagement and partnership development Officer, you will be in charge of to the following:

  • Develop adequate PSS tools.
  • Ensure equal participation and benefit of adolescent boys and girls and children with disabilities in all phases of project implementation
  • Mobilize different CBOs at community level to address Street children protection
  • Establish and support CC and COC groups at community level for smooth project implementation
  • Conduct sensitization of the project objectives and results to concerned kebele, community leaders, beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the necessary fieldwork to carry out beneficiary selection in collaboration with city administration Government office, woreda and kebele.
  • Support and facilitate joint implementation plan of the project with relevant government stakeholders
  • Facilitate project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project at woreda and community level.
  • Participate in the assessment and surveys in partnership with stakeholders
  • Facilitates effective participation of children, families, communities and stakeholders in project activities
  • Facilitate and follow up different material distribution at community level
  • Monitor and follow up Community conversation sessions as well as peer to peer dialogs at community level
  • Organize different training, workshop and meeting at community level
  • Facilitate different field visits programs
  • Facilitate different review meetings at community level
  • Follow up and support school clubs at community level
  • Provide regular technical support to partners and beneficiaries at woreda and community level
  • Collect data from beneficiaries that will be used as an input for case story and for other documentation purposes
  • Collect and compile monthly report from Change agents, peer to peer groups and youth COC groups
  • Provide any project updates on regular bases

Child Safguarding

  • Responsible to take part in awareness raising sessions and capacity building trainings in relation to Child Safeguarding to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
  • Support children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and protection mechanisms
  • Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager

Must Criteria

Education: The position holder is required to have at least B.A/B.Sc. degree In Social Sience,Social Work, and other related fields.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience matching the above duties

  • Experience of working in the community,  voluntary, science engagement or a related sector
  • Experience of coordinating project work and working on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to build good working relationships with internal colleagues, external partners & stakeholders
  • Knowledge of community mobilization and participation in the development project
  • Strong proposal writing, drafting MoU, concept note development and organizational skills, as well as the ability to speak clearly and persuasively
  • Track record of planning and implementing events
  • An ability and high comfort level to give presentations to large groups
  • Excellent people and negotiation skills and an upbeat, enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced team environment, while simultaneously managing a large number of projects
  • The ability to handle large amounts of detailed information with accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and the desire to do the best job possible
  • Prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and quality management
  • A willingness and ability to work with and develop relationships with a variety of individuals and constituencies, including students, families, media, major donors, instructors, and administrative staff
  • S/he must have demonstrated knowledge of partnership development strategies, proposal writing, resource mobilization and fund development.
