Ethiopia School Meal Initiative (ESMI), is a local NGO, non-political and non-denominational organization working to advance holistic, integrated multi-sectorial school meal program in Ethiopia and to address the nutritional needs of school children. Our guiding philosophy upholds that in order to effectively ensure sustainable development, you must invest on school age children. 

JOB SUMMARY:

Project officer is responsible for planning, organizing and coordination for the implementation of programs/projects he/she is assigned.  In consultation with the project manager and with other program/project staff, she/he develops annual implementation plan, accomplish the plan, and ensures that an appropriate monitoring system is in place to track progress and deviations of program/project implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and monitor the operations of the Program/Project;
  • Based on past accomplishments and achievements adjusts program targets, strategies, resources to ensure appropriate progress toward Program objectives;
  • Submits annual plans as per established schedules to all program stakeholders;
  • Promotes ESM’s activities in the selected target areas in the Program;
  • Ensures that programme operations are carried out in accordance with ESMI’s policies and procedures;
  • Periodically visits field activities and provide formal and informal feedback to the Supervisor;
  • Builds the capacity of staffs and stakeholders in the site in technical issues pertinent to the sector;
  • Maintains ongoing communication with stakeholder regarding program/project progress and challenges.
  • Collect baseline and periodic data for tracking Program performance and decision making;
  • Mobilizes the local communities through awareness creation to participate in the identification, implementation and evaluation of projects;
  • Ensure continuous data management and project quality according to ESMI monitoring and evaluation guideline;
  • Keeps up to date with developments in the Program/Project including best practice examples and ensures ongoing personal development and learning;
  • Prepare monthly plan of the stated project sites.
  • Prepares and submit to the Supervisor monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual physical and financial and activity reports;
  •  Performs any other duties assigned by Program Director

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • BA/BSc in Health, Sociology or related.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 years of relevant work experience.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Willingness to work under pressure;
  • Good interpersonal and ability to communicate information accurately
