Job Description

Position: Project Mannager -FGM
Reports to: Head of Program
Type of Contract: Contract
Required Number: One
Duty Base: South Gonder zone (Debretabor, Gunna and Farta)
Key Responsibility
  • Provide results-based strategic guidance, leadership and management of the project
  • Lead and coordinate the project cycle management
  •  Ensure the projects alignment with program priority of AAE
  •  Mainstream the program objectives with other priority areas of AAE i.e Women rights, Resilient livelihoods and climate justice and humanitarian & Emergencies
  •  Contribute to the program excellence through robust program management and evidence-based advocacy
  •  Ensure quality program delivery through systemic and well-designed MEAL aligned to the program results framework
  •  Pre-position AAE in key strategic platforms and clusters
  •  Play crucial role in timely and systematic documentation and communication of the project results with relevant teams to contribute towards organizational vision and mission delivery.
  • Responsible for the program donor compliance, coordination and monitoring of the results framework delivery
  • Actively participate, and lead technically where relevant, in project design, implementation, reporting and monitoring based on ActionAid Ethiopia’s and donors’ requirements.

Job Requirements

  • MA in Gender and Development Studies, Public Health, Law, development studies, social science OR other related disciplines
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Good understanding of the context of women, girls and youth issues under Ethiopia social, political, economic and cultural context;
  • A person who champions women and girl’s agenda with an ability to conduct action research on economic and social issues
  • Experience and commitment to align & work with people living in poverty and particularly women and marginalized/excluded groups.
  • A good knowledge of Human Right Based Approach programming and Feminist approaches
  • Ability in the use of gender analysis tools
  • Broad understanding of national Gender and Women’s policy environment and local and national gender issues, women health issues;
  • A person who has the understanding of inter linkage between women/girls right and social values and norms
  • A person with deeper understanding of traditional practices such as FGM, early marriage and how these impacts the well being and future of girls
  • Experience and skills in organizing and facilitating community conversations and dialogues around traditional practices such as FGM and early marriage
  • Experience and skills in mobilizing and organizing community, influential individuals, women and men, young people against traditional practices such as FGM and early marriage
  • Practical experience in designing and managing community-based programs/projects focusing on social/behavioral change around traditional practices
  • Knowledge, skills and practical experience on girls centered approach
  • Experience and knowledge on reporting, communication with good verbal and written skills in English
  • Experience in Project and program management. Teamwork and culture in functional reporting systems is an asset.
