The People in Need organization was established in 1992 by a group of Czech war correspondents who were no longer satisfied with merely relaying information about ongoing conflicts and began sending out aid. It gradually became established as a professional humanitarian organization striving to provide aid in troubled regions and support adherence to human rights around the world.

Throughout our over 26 years of its existence, People in Need has become one of the biggest non-profit organizations in Central Europe. In addition to humanitarian aid and human rights, it now also targets education and helps people living in social exclusion.

We are part of Alliance 2015, a strategic network of seven European non-governmental organizations engaged in humanitarian aid and development projects. This collaboration increases effectiveness, both in working in the target countries and in campaigns aimed at influencing the attitudes of politicians and the general public in Europe. In our over 16 years operation in Ethiopia, has focused on projects in five main areas of interest: Education and Social protection, Environment, Livelihood and Agriculture, Water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Emergency programs.

Length of Contract: Definite employment contract (1 year with Possible  extension)

Job Description

Project Economy and Administration Officer (PEAO) is responsible for full scale financial administration of the projects. The PEAO is the member of the program team and focal point for Project managers and staff from supporting departments 

Responsibilities:       

·     Financial support of the projects

  • In the field of finance project management and reporting, the PEAO is responsible for cooperation on all the activities related to the budgets, e.g. budgeting, forecasting and reporting;
  • Cooperation on the budget preparation and reporting to the BOFED;
  • Cooperation on cash-flow management of the projects;
  • Administration of ERP system in relation to the projects;
  • Support for audits (statutory and project) – preparation and completing of all required documents from the field office and project managers;
  • Providing financial trainings and advice for project and finance staff
  • Everyday cooperation on linking of program and support departments

·       Document Circulation and Archiving

  • Responsible for administration of the projects related documents (donation contracts, handovers, distribution lists) and their linking to the purchase documentation
  • Processing of the project agreements
  • Proper archivation of the documents on the edge of finance and projects

·       Other

  • Cooperation on the preparation of the annual procurement plan and its updates
  • Close cooperation with colleagues from HQ
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by supervisors

Job Requirements

  • Minimum BA Degree in Accounting and Finance and any other relevant field of study.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in Finance.
  • Reporting and communication skills
  • Good command of MS Package (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) especially Excel (will be tested during the exam)
  • Good understanding of English in both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Finance aspects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Three references (will be crosschecked/contacted)
