Job Description

SOS Sahel Ethiopia jointly with FARM Africa is implementing Royal Norwegian Embassy funded program called: “Forest for Sustainable Development (FSD) Project” in 20 Districts of Bale, East Bale, West Arsi , East Guji and Borena Zones in Oromia Regional State. As part of its program implementation, SOS Sahel Ethiopia is accepting applications from qualified, experienced and interested individuals for the position mentioned here under:

Purpose of the Role

The Project Coordinator (PC) working closely with the Forest for Sustainable Development Programme Manager (PM) based in SOS Sahel Ethiopia Head Office. S/he will be responsible for leading and coordinating the overall project implementation at field level supporting project management, planning, implementation, playing leading role in coordination of field implementation of all partners, assisting the PM in internal and external project reporting, financial management, partner engagement, and monitoring and evaluation of the project activities, outputs and impacts. Responsibilities involve ensuring that the field level project activities of all partner organizations are integrated effectively and all project relevant stakeholders at all levels are fully engaged.

Duty station: Robe Town, Bale Zone

Salary: As per SOS Sahel Ethiopia salary scale

Closing date: August 10, 2023 (21 calendar days from the first date of announcement)

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of M.Sc. in NRM/Forestry, Landscape Management, Watershed Management, Rural Development, Environmental Studies, or related field of studies with 5 or more years relevant, direct and management level practical experience (preferably in NGO),
  • Proven Project Management and Coordination skill and work experience,
  • Direct work exposure and experience in areas of NRM/Forestry, Climate Smart Agriculture, Integrated rural development and Livelihoods, Food security, and Business and Marketing development,
  • Good understanding and firm belief in gender equality and issues in rural communities,
  • Good human resources and grant management, communication skills, interpersonal skill and demonstrated skills in report writing in English,
  • Proven capacity in project planning, project cycle management (PCM) monitoring and evaluation,
  • Proficiency in Micro Soft Office pack,
  • Knowledge of local language – Afaan Oromo is mandatory.
