Job Description

Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is a non-political, non-religious, and not-for-profit Ethiopian Civil Society Organization focused on sustainable wetland and natural resource management, as well as livelihoods improvement. EWNRA, with funding from NORAD through the Development Fund of Norway, is set to implement the project “Improving Rights, Sustainable Livelihoods, and Forest Management in Southwestern Ethiopia” in Gambela, Oromia, and the Southwest Ethiopia People’s Regional States.

Duty Stations: Mizan-Aman Town (Bench-Sheko Zone, Southwest Ethiopia Peoples’ Regional State)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Natural Resources and Forestry Program Director, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Project Management: Oversee the implementation of project activities across 5 zones and 14 woredas, ensuring compliance with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact between regional authorities, local communities, and donors (NORAD and the Development Fund of Norway).
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing detailed reports to EWNRA management and donors.
  • Capacity Building: Organize training programs and workshops to enhance the capacity of local communities, government officials, and project staff in sustainable forest management and livelihoods.
  • Resource Management: Ensure efficient resource allocation in line with project guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate community participation and protect local stakeholders’ rights throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely project documentation, meeting EWNRA, donor, and regulatory compliance standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

Educational Requirements:

  • M.Sc. in Forestry, Agroforestry, Natural Resource Management, Watershed Management, Natural Resource Economics and Policy, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant NGO experience in the management of forestry, natural resource, or environmental projects or programs

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, GIS, and other relevant software.
  • Strong written and oral English skills for report writing and communication
  • Strong teamwork skills, gender sensitivity, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

For all positions

Salary: As per EWNRA’s salary scale.

Terms of Employment: 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension for up to two years, based on performance.
