MSD’s programmatic focus spans multiple sectors, including Health and Nutrition (TB, HIV/AIDS, SRH, MNCH), Education (access to quality education, TVET, and skills development), Social Mobilization and Livelihood (economic strengthening and prevention of HTPs, GBV, and FGM), Migration and Trafficking (safe migration and rehabilitation of returnees and victims), Child Care and Development (child protection, early childhood care, and infant feeding), and Human Rights and Good Governance (democratization, peace building, and dialogue).
In addition, MSD engages in Humanitarian and Emergency Response (supporting disaster-affected and displaced communities) and Environment and Climate Change (promoting environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation). Through these integrated interventions, MSD works closely with government institutions, community structures, and development partners to foster inclusive growth, equity, and resilience at all levels of society.
MSD is a child-safe organization, and successful applicants will be required to sign the PSEA, Child Safeguarding, and Code of Conduct. The safety and well–being of children and at-risk adults are priorities of MSD. The organization provides a safe environment in all its programs and activities. PROJECT SUMMARY
Ethiopia has made significant strides in controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with prevalence dropping from 3.3% in 2000 to 0.87% in 2023. The epidemic remains concentrated in urban areas and among Key and Priority Populations (KPPs) such as Female Sex Workers (FSWs), People Who Inject Drugs (PWID), prisoners, Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), workers in high-risk areas, widowed and divorced individuals, long distance drivers, unfirmed people, mobile workers, and children and partners of people living with HIV (PLHIV). To tackle these ongoing challenges, the proposed project seeks to implement a comprehensive HIV prevention and care program. This initiative target high-incidence woredas across Amhara region, as well as higher learning institutions and industrial development. The project focused on Drop- In Centers (DICs) and KPP friendly clinic to provide a full range of HIV services, enhancing referral networks, and building capacity for sustainable HIV care. Additionally, it will improve referral systems to facilitate better access to essential services and develop robust monitoring and evaluation systems to effectiveness and impact of the HIV prevention interventions.
