Established in 1951, IOM is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting human and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer in Addis Ababa in close coordination with the Head of Sub Office and direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (Livelihood), the Project Clerk (Community workers) will be responsible for the direct implementation of the daily activities of the target outputs in terms of overseeing and monitoring the ongoing livelihood activities.
S/he will be based in the assigned woreda and is responsible for the coordination of meetings and activities among the project beneficiaries, and relevant local administrative bodies as well as reporting the progress of the activities, challenges faced, and other necessary information to the livelihood project team based in Mekelle. He/she will directly work on the coaching and mentoring of business groups and beneficiaries, enhance linkage with implementing partners, facilitate the provision of the necessary inputs to the beneficiaries and serves as the primary focal point for preparation of project progress reports.
The project title is “Sustainable Support to People Displaced by Conflict and Natural Disasters and Their Host Communities in Afar, Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz (BSG), and Tigray,” funded by the European Union (EUD-IM3).
The recruited community worker will be assigned to the Livelihood Unit, implemented under the Department of Peace and Recovery Unit within the EUD IM3 Project (Project Code: CS1262). The role will contribute to livelihood activities under the below Objective 1, specifically Outputs 1.1 and 1.2, in Gantafeshum Woreda.
1.1 Improved access to inclusive skills training and diversified employment opportunities with a special focus on youth, PWD, women and people in vulnerable situations.
1.2 Improved access to financial services and inclusion using innovative financing for IDPs and HC, with special focus on female IDPs
1.3 Improved access to WASH services for IDPs, and host communities are provided.
1.4 Improved capacity and coordination of relevant government and non-government stakeholders in the implementation of the displacement proclamation as well as increased capacity and knowledge on mobile populations, data collection, data protection and data security
For this position, fluency in Amharic, Tigrinya and English is required (oral and written).
