Job Description

I. Position Details

Title: Project assistant

Reports To: Project manager

Location: Samara, Afar

Duration of the project: from August 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 with possible

extension based on fund availability

II. Organization Overview

Amref Health Africa is an African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi,

Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote

communities, Amref Health Africa envisions bringing lasting health change for Africa in more than 30

countries across the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome the

most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, water and

sanitation, and health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia has been working in Ethiopia

since 2002 in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health implementing a range of projects in

maternal, neonatal, and child health, reproductive health, health systems strengthening, health

workforce development, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases across the

country, supported by a wide range of multilateral and bilateral donors, corporates and foundations.

III. Job Summary:

Amref Health Africa would like to recruit one project assistant for the Comic Relief II project, a

co-fund project for USAID Transform HDR activity based in Afar Regional Office, Semera. The Project

Assistant will report to the project manager.

IV. Job objective:

To provide technical /operational support in project activity implementation.

V. Management Responsibility:

Responsible for carrying out specific activities.

VI. Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Develop implementation work plans

2. Develop /adopt relevant materials to support the field activities

3. Plan, implement, and maintain a record of field activities

4. Monitor and report on relevant activities and impact

5. Liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders, and collaborators at the activity level

VII. Accountability

i. supervision: works independently and in collaboration with other

Assistants in the project reporting on a regular basis to the project

manager

ii. Decision making: Is responsible for logistics relevant activities

iii. Responsibility for assets: All assigned office equipment

iv. Responsibility for data or information: Relevant data and material

v. Responsible over staff: None

vi. Implementation of the activities leading to desire effects

Job Requirements

▪ Clinical nurse / Midwifery/ health officer in diploma /degree

▪ Experience in expanded program immunization (EPI) at least for 2year

▪ Key skills: quality report writing skills in English

▪ Computer skills: Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, and internet (ERP)

▪ Language: English, Amharic, and local language is an asset

▪ NGO experience is an added value.

Terms of employment: 6 months with possible extension

Duty Station: Afar Regional state, Semera.
