This multi sectoral role will lead the sponsorship funded program in such a way that ensures sectoral integration among projects to maximize impact in the sponsorship target areas through complementarity. The post holder is responsible for the delivery of results in line with pre-agreed program plans and objectives and oversees program implementation at all stages throughout the project cycle.

Dimensions of the Role

  • Management of the SPAD budget at the program area level
  • Responsible for project design, overseeing implementation and monitoring (where appropriate with the participation of sponsored children) in these relevant stages of project management while ensuring quality program delivery;
  • Ensures integration as well as smooth teamwork within and across other programs (including sponsorship operation) at the program area level;
  • Key components of the position are regional advocacy and networking, strategic thematic area planning, developing and strengthening partnerships, and mainstreaming of child focus local programming;
  • Ensure versatile partnership based on mutual accountability through collaborative engagement for the achievement of results;

Accountabilities

  • Ensure the technical soundness, appropriateness and general quality in project design and planning
  • Provide leadership into the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; ensuring the alignment of sponsorship processes with program implementation
  • Make systematic assessment whether the outputs, outcomes and impact of program interventions and activities in the program area are leading to desired change as stipulated in the theory of change;
  • Prepare and develop annual work plans and project plans in consultation with appropriate stakeholders;
  • Develop concept notes and proposals in collaboration with PA and CO team for solicited and solicited funding opportunities;
  • Ensure effective and efficient management of financial resources through reviewing project budgets, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost control measures
  • Ensure research and learning in close collaboration with MERL team
  • Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Bachelor or MA degree in project management, development studies, rural development, Sociology, Economics with at least 3 years of relevant experience  for MA and  5 years  for BA degree, of which two years’ experience should be in NGOs;
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of integrated multi-sectoral projects;
  • Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications

Desirable

  • Multi-sectoral Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Plan’s sponsorship programs is a desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of project cycle management and child focused programming;
  • Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community development;
  • Knowledge of effective participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems and processes;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills;
  • Numeracy and the ability to interpret financial data, in order to understand budgetary processes including planning, monitoring and reporting.
  • Strong ability to analyse information and evaluate options including planning and report writing skills;
  • A predisposition to collaborative and positive engagement with functions in the organisation
  • A commitment to communicate in a timely manner.
  • Relates to people in a friendly, open manner and engenders trust from other staff;
