About PxD:

PxD is a global non-profit that harnesses the power of technology, data science, and behavioral economics to provide targeted information to farmers in low and middle-income countries. Providing the right information to the right people in the right way and at the right time increases incomes, protects the environment, and improves well-being. We are evidence-based: we test our interventions with randomized controlled trials to prove our impact and cost-effectiveness, to simultaneously learn from and improve our service, and to demonstrate our value to funders and partners. There are few programmes in international development that are as demonstrably cost-effective as ours.

Summary of the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Program Associate to support a team embedded within an Ethiopian government office. The successful candidate must have a strong interest in and commitment to PxD’s mission to provide actionable information and other cost-effective, scalable services to people in poverty so that they can sustainably improve their incomes and well-being.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

The role will grow as you develop, but you will start by focusing on the following key responsibilities:

Program/Project Management and Coordination:

  • Serving as a key point of contact with the government, supporting day-to-day liaising and coordination
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials and key stakeholders to ensure project success and future opportunities.
  • Working with government and non-government stakeholders to operationalize use cases, design and support program implementation and monitoring
  • Act as an interface between PxD’s tech, research, and program teams, and the government to design and iterate on products.
  • Assist in managing partner relations and working with external stakeholders for the implementation of programme operations.
  • Review materials shared by government partners; conduct literature reviews and secondary research
  • Contribute to general management tasks important for the organization’s functioning and success, including but not limited to budgeting, performance management, and hiring.

Documentation

  • Support the development and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation and progress reports to keep senior leadership informed and ensure successful integration into standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain summaries of meetings, support the preparation of reports, presentations, and written communication materials
  • Support the team in organizing events; writing blogs and policy briefs, as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Entrepreneurial, data-driven, and motivated to build and refine operational and programmatic processes
  • Experience and interest in working with governments to scale impact
  • Experience in a multi-faceted role, with the ability to balance and prioritize across multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Humble, curious, and user-oriented, with enthusiasm to spend time in the field designing with and for our users
  • Some understanding of PxD’s approach to evidence and data-driven decision making
  • Some experience with SQL, Stata, or R is preferred
  • Previous product management or tech industry experience is a plus
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills in English, with attention to detail and advanced writing and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel to field sites in Ethiopia, subject to security considerations.

How to Apply:
