About the Role

We are seeking reliable, compassionate, and service-oriented Porters to join our growing healthcare team.

This role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, supplies, and materials throughout the facility. The successful candidate will contribute to seamless patient flow, operational excellence, and a safe, welcoming environment while working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

Patient and Equipment Transport

  • Transport patients safely and respectfully between wards, diagnostic areas, procedure rooms, and other service points.
  • Move wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and transport equipment safely while protecting patient comfort and dignity.
  • Support movement and set up equipment, furniture, and supplies to meet operational and clinical needs.
  • Assist with timely patient transfer requests to support efficient flow and reduce avoidable service delays.

Operational Support and Deliveries

  • Deliver documents, samples, linen, consumables, and other items accurately and on time.
  • Support departments with routine movement of materials, equipment, and supplies to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Respond promptly to urgent transport and delivery requests that directly support patient care and operations.
  • Ensure items are handled carefully, delivered to the correct destination, and communicated properly at handover.

Safety, Dignity, and Infection Prevention

  • Handle patients, equipment, and materials with care, dignity, discretion, and attention to safety.
  • Always follow infection prevention procedures and safe manual handling practices.
  • Report hazards, damaged equipment, delays, incidents, or patient transfer concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Use transport equipment correctly and ensure pathways, trolleys, and movement areas remain safe and accessible.

Professional Conduct and Teamwork

  • Work closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to support patient flow and day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain punctuality, professionalism, responsiveness, and a respectful approach in all interactions.
  • Participate in orientation, safety training, task-related briefings, and process updates as required.
  • Support a cooperative, service-focused environment by communicating clearly and responding promptly to requests.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Completion of secondary education is preferred.
  • Minimum experience of 1 year in hospital or center as a porter.
  • Previous experience in portering, support services, or healthcare operations is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills, reliability, and awareness of safety, hygiene, and respectful patient handling practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately, manage routine transport tasks, and work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to work shifts and respond promptly in a busy healthcare environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team oriented with the ability to partner across all functions within the organization
