AHF -ETH is supporting the comprehensive HIV prevention and care and treatment of PLHIV in 28 health facilities including St Paul’s Hospital Millenium Medical college

The organization is looking for experienced candidates to be deployed to the Supported health facilities where it is providing programmatic support on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care for the following positions.

Objective:

AHF–Ethiopia is striving to ensure high quality medical services to client at its own clinic and supported facilities. One of the medical services is provision of ARVs and Drugs for opportunistic infections and other related comorbid conditions. The Pharmacy technical will be responsible to involve in the direct care provisions at ARV dispensary, ARV adherence counseling and monitoring of ARV Side effects . Moreover, the pharmacy technician will work in Pharmacy store management and dispensing to service delivery points and supported health facilities.

Generally, in collaboration with the AHF Pharmacy Coordinator, s/he will work to improve and strengthen the Pharmacy supply chain management at supported health facilities , ARV dispense and monitoring and to supported health facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the St Paul’s Hospital Millenium Medical college, ART pharmacy unit staffs and Facility’s Pharmacy Coordinator participate in the direct care provision of ARV and OI drug dispensary and engage in the pharmaceutical Management of ARVs and OI to dispensing unit
  • As determined by the AHF Pharmacy coordinator and National Medical Director, Take part in the Pharmacy related activities of AHF -ET country office and AHF-Addis clinic.
  • Dispense prescribed medication and other pharmaceuticals to patients after reviewing prescription validity: Implement Good Medicine Dispensing Practice based on provided manual
  • Provide ART Adherence Counseling to all new and needy patient on follow up : Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, proper medication storage and related information to patients
  • Implement Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Pharmacy Professionals in Ethiopia
  • Receive pharmaceuticals when necessary, from EPSS , private or donor partners and report to Pharmacy Coordinator
  • Issue pharmaceuticals, laboratory reagents, HIV test kits, medical supplies, medical equipment and related commodities to the requesting AHF Clinic Departments and HIV prevention department and Supported Facilities based on the approved Supplies Request Voucher
  • Prepare and update Bin Card to all available pharmaceuticals in the medical store and report any positive or negative adjustments to your immediate supervisor
  • Ensure all the dispensary service at AHF Addis clinic pharmacy follow the national guideline and AHF polices.
  • Ensure all the dispensed drugs/Laboratory reagent/Medical supplies and other forms pharmaceutical are recorded in the AHF ERP as recommended and follow implementation.
  • Enter all data regarding patient drug related information and other records on the pharmacy data base, Daily Drug Register (DDR), patient follow up chart (patient information card) daily drugs for OI’s record on the provided registers
  • Arrange medical store according to Good Pharmaceutical Storage Practice and practice Good Pharmaceuticals Storage Guideline. Follow FEFO &/or FIFO methods to avoid/ minimize expiry
  • Record expiry dates of pharmaceuticals on expiry date tracking chart and report items having less than six months expiry date to your immediate supervisor
  • Assist the Pharmacy Coordinator in preparing monthly and other periodic reports as necessary
  • Perform Annual Inventory or Periodic Inventory together with the Pharmacy Team
  • Report any adverse drug event or quality problem on pharmaceuticals to Pharmacy Coordinator
  • Participate in the Drug Disposal Process when necessary
  • Record and file used prescriptions properly by labeling their serial number until their disposals with expired items are ensured
  • Responsible for all pharmacy related activities in the absence of Pharmacy Coordinator
  • Facilitate the referral of patient with prescription of drugs not available in the clinic’s pharmacy and register for monitoring referral
  • Perform all other tasks as required to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality patient centered pharmaceutical services and any other tasks as requested by the National Medical Director or Country Program Director.

Education, Qualification, and Experience:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (BSc) from a recognized health institution
  • Minimum of Three years’ experience working on ARV drug supply and logistics preferably with an international NGO dealing with HIV/AIDS service delivery
  • Having recent and updated Training on basic training on Antiretroviral drug Management for Pharmacy professionals.: ; having training on other HIV related courses PMTCT, HCT, TB/HIV, MDR TB… is an advantage
  • Having Training on Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management
  • Training in pharmaceutical Monitoring Software’s and experience working on this software.
  • Evidence of having Experience working on pharmacy Auditable pharmacy Transaction and Service (APTS)
  • proficient in basic computer programs including Ms Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet skills and knowledge on data base.
  • Excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills with good command of English & Amharic languages
  • Effective time management and meeting deadlines maintaining quality
  • Must be highly organized and demonstrate multi-tasking ability
  • Flexible, proactive and able to organize work independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal interaction skills and keen to work with good team spirit
