People & Culture Development Director

JOB SUMMARY

As a key strategic partner to the Ministry of Health, MSI Ethiopia Reproductive Choices strengthens the national health system by providing premium, client-focused maternal and child health care alongside sexual and reproductive services across the country. Beyond its portfolio of donor-funded projects, MSIE applies a social business model to harmonize deep social impact with financial sustainability.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic People & Culture Director to lead the development of a high-performing, value-driven, and accountable workforce.

This role is critical in shaping MSIE’s organizational culture, strengthening leadership capacity, and aligning people strategies with both programmatic impact and business sustainability. The successful candidate will champion a culture of openness, inclusion, safeguarding, and performance excellence.

2. DUTIES/TASKS

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement MSIE’s People & Culture Strategy aligned with organizational growth and the social business model
  • Drive organizational development, workforce planning, and culture transformation
  • Oversee talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, and leadership development
  • Strengthen performance management systems to enhance productivity, accountability, and quality of care
  • Ensure effective implementation of safeguarding, ethics, and compliance standards
  • Promote a culture of employee engagement, continuous learning, and innovation
  • Support service delivery teams to achieve both impact and financial sustainability goals

Qualification Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field Experiences
  • Minimum 10 years of senior HR/People leadership experience
  • Proven experience in organizational transformation and culture change
  • Strong understanding of performance-driven and commercially aware workforce models
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding, ethics, and inclusive workplace practices
  • Experience in NGOs, healthcare, or social enterprise settings is highly desirable
