About the Organization

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. We are legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as National NGO and as INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022) and Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732); it is also processing its registration in Yemen. We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our mission-driven organization.

Job Summary

As the Operations Manager, you will be a pivotal figure in ensuring the seamless functioning of our organization reporting to the Global Director General. Working closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will contribute to strategic planning and lead key operational functions. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in operations management, strategic planning, and experience overseeing HR, Procurement, Logistics & Fleet, and Warehouse functions within a non-profit context.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with the SMT to contribute to the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance operational effectiveness and support the achievement of organizational objectives.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day operational processes, ensuring efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead HR, Procurement, Logistics & Fleet, and Warehouse functions to optimize processes and drive operational excellence.

Human Resources Management:

  • Oversee HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies, fostering a positive workplace culture and employee engagement.

Procurement Management:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet organizational needs.
  • Lead the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiations, and contract management, ensuring cost-effectiveness and high-quality standards.

Logistics & Fleet Management:

  • Coordinate logistics activities to support project implementation.
  • Manage the organization’s fleet, optimizing vehicle maintenance, scheduling, and fuel efficiency.
  • Enhance supply chain processes for timely and cost-effective delivery.

Warehouse Management:

  • Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory control, storage, and distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Implement efficient warehouse management systems for improved inventory tracking.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead administrative and support staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to build a high-performing operations team.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Collaborate with department heads to streamline cross-functional processes.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements and recommend improvements.
  • Implement and maintain systems to streamline organizational processes.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Enhance internal communication strategies to ensure effective information flow within the organization.
  • Collaborate with various departments to facilitate cross-functional teamwork.

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) with minimum hands-on experience of 6 years for BA and 8 years for MA.
  • Proven experience in operations management, including overseeing HR, Procurement, Logistics & Fleet, and Warehouse functions within the non-profit sector.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant software applications and tools.
  • Commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of DPO.
  • Experience working with multi-partner projects highly desirable,
