ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This job is found in Country Offices (COs) and job holders report to the Deputy Head of Program and under the direct supervision of the head of the refugee section.

Job holders are likely to be working under the close support and guidance of a more experienced professional staff member receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed. They are typically involved in programme or policy activities of similar nature and analytical work of limited complexity.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

WFP is working with RRS, UNHCR and different cooperating partners (NGOs) to implement nutrition and HIV support programme for refugees in 26 camps and 8 sites, and for vulnerable people living with HIV in Ethiopia.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Participate in regular and emergency nutrition surveys in collaboration with UNHCR, RRS and other implementing partners and assist in data analysis and report writing.
  • Supervise WFP supported targeted and blanket feeding programs and provide necessary guidance to the implementing partners, to ensure that programs are implemented in accordance with WFP guidelines and meet global standards
  • Monitor performance and effectiveness of WFP supported feeding programs at refugee camps in collaboration with UNHCR, RRS and Ips
  • Provide technical advice to WFP refugee team on issues related to nutrition and represent WFP in external meetings related to refugee nutrition
  • Provide technical support to implementing partners in charge of WFP supported feeding programs
  • Contribute to capacity building and provide when possible, training to implementing partner’s staff, WFP field staff, and nutrition outreach workers on nutrition program related topics
  • Coordinate with UNHCR, RRS and other and other partners on issues related to nutrition within the scope of the signed MOUs and FLAs
  • Attend monthly refugee and health coordination meetings and undertake field visit on a regular basis to provide technical support to field teams
  • Provide technical support to other refugee activities such as general food distribution, cash assistance, livelihood supports and school meal to make them nutrition sensitive
  • Act as the HIV/AIDS focal point and oversee the management for the UNAIDS Unified Budget and Results Accountability (UBRAF) trust fund
  • Mainstream and incorporate HIV-sensitive activities in WFP Ethiopia program activities such as Social protection, School Based Programs Cash Based Transfers, Nutrition and other programs across the Country.
  • Coordinate the HIV partnership portfolio, including attending the monthly UNAIDS country coordination meetings and engaging with the UN joint team members.
  • Support the drafting and review of programme documents, including donor proposals, MOUs, FLAs, reporting, concept notes, letters, etc. to ensure high-quality documents arrive to deputy HoP’s desk for clearance
  • Manage the preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports, publications, and a variety of information products or proposals for internal or external use for refugee nutrition activity
  • Perform any other nutrition related tasks requested by Head of Refugee Section

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Food Technology, Medicine, or other relevant fields. or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:  At least three years of post-graduate professional experience in Nutrition, public health, emergency nutrition responses, food security

Language: Fluency in oral and written in English language and the duty station’s language.
