Deadline: February 25, 2025
Overview
Pharo Foundation (“the Foundation”) is a mission-driven, impact-oriented organisation that designs, funds, and operates economic development programmes towards a vibrant, productive, and self-reliant Africa. Over the next decade, our goal is to create maximum impact towards three critical missions:
Pharo School Homosha was established in 2018 and officially inaugurated on February 29, 2020 on 16 hectares of land with a 240-capacity state-of-the-art full-board girls’ school, located in the Benishangul Gumuz Regional State (BGRS) of Ethiopia. The school is the first of its kind in the region; aiming to offer the best educational and boarding opportunities to bright and driven girls from across the region. Our focus on female education is in recognition of the challenges in accessing education and provide high-quality, empowering, and meaningful education for secondary school-aged young female students in the BGRS, Ethiopia.
We follow the Ethiopian National Curriculum with aspects of international best practice. The school provides a 4-year secondary education and boarding experience to female students. Our small class sizes, well-resourced facility, dedicated team of educators, and small volunteer base accelerate student learning and English skills development, life skills, and career development while building confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills. The school’s goal is to see each student attain all-round academic and personal development in order to pursue post-secondary education and become a leader and role model.
We are a diverse, multicultural, and passionate organisation, with over 700 employees in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Somaliland. Our headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya, and we have a liaison office in London, UK, which is home to our parent organisation, Pharo Management.
The Foundation also operates Pharo Ventures which is the for-profit arm of its operations with sustainable businesses in Ethiopia and Somaliland geared towards job creation and economic empowerment.
